:::THE NEXT DAY:::
The librarians and their guardian arrived in Beijing, because that was where Flynn had claimed they were supposed to go."And it's here!" Flynn said when they were in a courtyard or a square.
"What's here?" Stone said looking around.
"They're coming here!" Flynn said, his hand in his pocket.
"When?"
"Hmm, I'd say, right now!" Eve said, seeing some of the Serpent Brotherhood. They all started to fight, Flynn's hand always in his pocket. He was using a sword in the other hand and was fighting okay, but one of the LITs or Eve had to occasionally save him because it was rather hard to fight with only one hand.
"Tha-" Flynn began after Eve helped defend him from one of the serpent brotherhood. He couldn't see anyone. He was in a maze that was suspiciously a lot like the labyrinth.
:::MEANWHILE:::
"Flynn? Where are you going?! Come here!" Eve and Cassandra shouted, worried because the librarian was making very calculated yet nonsensical steps. A couple times it appeared as if he was walking towards them, but then he got a confused look on his face and began muttering then turned away from them quickly."What is he... Flynn!" Jacob Stone said. Flynn attempted walking towards him but then changed course. The LITs and tier guardian still had to fight, so they had two things to worry about.
"Come on Flynn! You're not usually like this!" Eve said, grabbing his jacket and spinning him around to look at his face.
"It-it's the Minotaur," he said. Eve slapped his face.
"Stop playing around!" She said. His foggyish expression cleared and he quickly pulled away from her, his sword in hand. He charged and began fighting, asking the serpent brotherhood to help him.
"What did they do to him?" Eve asked while fighting the librarian.
"Who knows," Cassie answered, trying to not become fly food.
"Wh-agh!" Flynn said, clutching his side and stomach. He dropped his sword and fell to the ground, blood forming. The serpents left and the LITs were alone with their guardian and dying librarian.
"I... should've known!" Flynn said, trying to breathe.
"Shut up and save your energy until we can get back to Jenkins, Flynn," Eve said.
"No, I won't... make it. Here, take this," He gave her a small metal object that was round. " I'm sorry... for attacking you," he wheezed out.
"What did i just say? We've saved you before. We need to get you to Jenkins and a hospital-"
"Magical wound," Flynn cut her off.
"Well then we just need to get something to heal you!"
"We... can't. I'm sorry. The fate of the library rests on you now. All of magic's fate and the world's fate is at your hands," Flynn said, struggling to breathe.
"What are you meaning?" Eve asked cautiously.
"I... I see Cal," Flynn said.
"No!" Eve and Cassandra sobbed. Flynn's lifeless form went completely limp as his will and ability to survive died.
"Wh-who's the librarian now?" Ezekiel asked, shaken up.
"We'll have to go to the library to find out," Eve said, putting on a brave face as she let Flynn's head gently onto the ground. The LITs and the librarian, whoever that was, since they still didn't know who the new librarian was, and their guardian stood up, and with one last look at Flynn they left.
"I know that was hard," Cassandra whispered to Eve.
"I'll live," Eve said.
"I hope so. I sure hope so," Cassie said, worried for her friend and guardian.
"Jenkins!" Eve shouted once they were at the door to get in.
"Yes? And where is Flynn? Left you for another mission?"
"N-no. We were attacked. He was stabbed. H-he- Flynn's dead."
The truth hit Eve hard when she said it for herself."What?!?! But... but..." Jenkins seemed to be very upset and confused.
"What?"
"The librarian's workspace hasn't changed at all!"
"What could that mean?"
"The current librarian, which is still unknown, is mourning him, the library doesn't know he's dead yet or hasn't reset itself, or he's not dead." The last thing that Jenkins said got Eve's hopes up, and the other's moods seemed to brighten a little bit.
"But then why did he die? He said he saw cal and a bright light and he couldn't breathe!"
"It's possible that something saved him right after you left, if that's the case. It could also have been that he believe he was going to die to the point of almost dying, and there is an official name for it, although it has been long forgotten. He believed he was about to die so firmly that he went through what it was like to die, but now he's probably just in a very deep REM sleep or something. Probably the deathsleep."
"Well then we have to go back!" Eve said, pounding her hand on the table.
"Yeah, she's right. If there's a possibility that he's alive, we need to go get him."
"Wait, you just left him in the middle of a square?!?!"
"...yeah?"
"This is bad. If the serpents get him they could do unspeakable things and eventually get all of his powers and this is really bad!"
"We have to go then!" The LITs and their guardian tan out the door, ready to retrieve Flynn.
"Where is he?" Jacob asked.
"They got him." Eve said, a yet rolling down her cheek at the thought of what they might do to him.
