Darkness.

Could.

That's all there was. All there was to feel.

Nothingness.

Death.

"I look forward to the joining of the kingdoms." King Edward said as he left.

"As do I," Alex said back with a smile. "Safe travels."

The king gave a nod and the carriage drove off, and Alex walked inside.

"What will Marisa think?" He said under his breath.

"I don't know. It would help if I knew." Marisa said walking up beside him. "Did the negotiation not go well?"

"Yes and no," Alex said. "We will be joining the kingdoms, but..."

"Yes," Marisa asked. "But what?"

"When she becomes of age, Rose will marry Prince Luis." Alex said trailing off near the end.

Marisa looked at him and then at the floor sadly.

Alex and Marisa both knew that it had to be done to keep the peace, but it still saddened them. They never wanted either of their children to be burdened with marrying for politics, but it seems like that's what it will take for there to be peace.

"Well," Marisa began. "She won't have to know until she is older."

"I Agreed," Alex said. "No sense in telling her now."

"She wouldn't understand now anyway...." Marisa said with a sad tone.

"SIR!" A man called from down the hall. He got down on one knee. "Sorry for interrupting, but this is urgent."

"Go on." Alex said.

"We found a young boy." The guard says. "Outside the gates. He looks sickly. He looks no older than nine. What would you have me do sir?"

"Bring him to the healer, and when he is done with him bring him to me."

"But si-"

"That's my final word." Alex said.

With that, the guard left in a rush.

"That poor child," Marisa said. "I hope he will be alright. Who do you think it is?"

"I don't know," Alex said. "But we will know soon."

They walked down the long hall to see what else needed to be done before the day was over.

"We are approaching the Light Kingdom Captain!" A man said.

"Good!" A green-eyed mad said with a smirk. "Time to say hello to our old friends, and get back an old debt."

"Aye, sir!" The crew said happily.

The green-eyed man walked up to the rail of the ship.

The sea spray hit his face as the ship moved swiftly across the water.

"Yes," The green-eyed man said with a smile. "The Night Stalker and her crew always collect their debts."
