"What happened?" Jacob asked as Rose let go of him.
"It's about my future," Rose began. "My father told me that I am to marry Prince Edward, so that are kingdoms may become one. I have been betrothed to him since I was eight! I want to be able to marry who I chose when I chose! I don't think that's too much to ask for!"
Rose's voice had an angry tone, but also a sad one. Jacob looked at her then out the glass window in the library.
" betrothed," Jacob mumbled. Then he looked back at Rose. "Is there any way around it? Maybe we can talk to your fath-"
"Jacob?" Rose asked. "You seem to be as concerned about this as I am. Why is that?"
"Um," Jacob began. "I just feel like you should be able to pick who you marry, you know. Chose your own life, and live it the way you want."
"I know," Rose said as she put an arm around him. "
Jacob shifted a little bit, and Rose just looked at him. After a few more moments they decided to leave the library. Rose went to find her brother, Clark, while Jacob went on a walk outside of the castle.
Time Skip To Later That Night
Rose sat at her desk thinking about the day's events. As she was running her hairbrush through her long dark blond hair when she was done she went to lay down in her bad. Just before she went to sleep she heard a knock on her door. She stood and walked over to the high wooden doors in her room. When she opened it she saw Clark and Jacob standing in the doorway.
"Jacob," Rose asked sleepily as she rubbed her eyes. "Clark, do you know how late it is? What's this all about?"
Jacob and Clark both had sly looks on their faces.
"We have a plan," Clark said. "It's sure to work."
"Why do I have the feeling that this is a bad idea?" Rose said putting her hands on her hips. "Can't it wait till the morning?"
"No!" They both say in unison. "Now!"
"You are coming with us now," Jacob said grabbing her left arm. "Trust me this will work."
They dragged Rose into the hall and out of the castle, and into the woods.
"Seriously guys!" Rose said as they led her deeper into the woods. "What's going on? Where are you taking me?"
"It's a secret," Clark said in a joking voice. "Anyway, you should know it when you see it."
They continued walking until they came to a hill with one big tree at the top. As they got closer Rose saw what it was.
"This is the Light Keeper's old hide-out," Rose exclaimed. "Why are we here?"
"Well," Clark began as he went up to the tree. "Jacob and I were thinking about what we could do about your situation....."
Rose looked at the ground sadly remembering what her father had said to her.
"Anyway," Jacob butted in. "We figured that maybe if you were kidnaped then if someone was to come along "save you" then maybe just maybe they could stop the marriage."
Clark and Jacob looked at her with their eyes full of pride. Rose just looked back with shock, then confusion, and finally understanding. They really wanted to help her, and they were willing to get into a big deal of trouble if they were found out.
"It's crazy," Rose said after a few moments of silence. "It's totally insane. Out of the question."
Jacob and Clark looked down in defeat.
"So crazy in fact," She said sternly. "That it just might work."
