"He will be alright," The surgeon said. "He just needs some rest."

The young boy was lying in a bed next to an open window. His red ginger hair was a mess and dirt covered parts of his face. He would sometimes open his dark brown eyes to look around, but he would get tired and sleep again.

"Do you know who he is?" One of Alex's messengers asked. "Who are his parents?"

"No," The surgeon said. "All I know is that his name is Jacob, and that is nine years old."

"When will the king be able to see him?" The man asked.

"Before the day is done if he wishes," Said the surgeon. "He should be better within the hour."

"Thank you, sir." The messenger said as he walked out the door to let Alex know about the boy.

"Prepare to make port!" Said the green-eyed man walking up to someone. "Are you sure about this Allen?"

"No," Allen said back. "But if there is even a chance then we should try. Quincy, you and I have both felt it. You know what this could mean. I just hope we didn't make this trip for nothing."

"As do I," Quincy said with a chuckle. "I had all but given up hope. Now that I have that hope back I can't lose it. Not after this long."

"I know how you feel," Allen said placing a hand on Quincy's shoulder. "We will get what we came for, and it will work."

Quincy gave him a hopeful smile, then turned to face the port.

"Well then," Quincy said. "Won't be long now."

"Hello," Said Jacob sitting up on the bed. "Where am I?"

"It's alright," Said the surgeon. "You are safe. You an in the Light Kingdom."

Jacob looked at all there was to see in the room. To his left, he saw a fireplace with a steaming pot hanging over it. To his right, he could see out the window and knew he had to be at least fifty feet up.

"Am I in the castle?" Jacob asked.

"Yes, you are." The surgeon said. "You are observant."

Jacob didn't say anything back. He rolled over on the bed so that his back was to the surgeon.

"Well, things are going better than I hoped." Jacob thought to himself.

Then there was a knock at the door.

"Come in." The surgeon said.

The door opened and Alex came in.

"How is he?" Alex asked.

"Very well." Said the surgeon.

Alex walked over to the bed and knelt down by it.

"Hello," Alex said. "I am King Alexander. How might you be?"

"Jacob," Said Jacob as he rolled over to face him. "My name is Jacob."

"Well Jacob," Alex said with a soft smile. "Where are you from? Where are your parents?"

"My. My parents," Jacob said with a sniff. "My parents died, and I ran. I couldn't save them. I..I..."

Jacob began to cry softly, and Alex wiped his tears away.

"Shhh," Alex said trying to calm him down. "You don't have to say anymore. Just rest for now."

Alex got up and walked over to the surgeon.

"What am I to do with his sir?" The surgeon asked.

"I know," Alex said. "We will have him stay here in the castle. He will be trained in fighting and can be a knight for the kingdom if he wants to take that path. For now, I know that the twins will like to have someone around the same age as them in the castle to play with."

"I think that is a wonderful Idea," The surgeon said. "He should be ready to leave here within the next day."

"Good," Alex said. "When he is ready have him meet me in the great hall, and I will show him around."

"Yes, sir."

Alex walked out of the room. He could not wait to tell Marisa and the twins about Jacob.
