Tanaka Ryu x Reader

O N E- New Kid

   People say it sucks being the new kid, but when you are new with a lot of other people, it's not so bad. I'm starting the school year as a first year. I have my best friend Kageyama with me, though we aren't really friends. I don't have many "friends" because I guess I don't have the attitude people like?
   Well, I love volleyball. Not to the point of me playing it. I'm not athletic enough to last a game, though I could get on a team if I tried. I came to Karasuno for the boys team, I heard they used to be good, and I want to help them get back up there, like an assistant coach.
   No one will call our boys the "fallen crows" again.

   After eight dreadful classes, I ran to the boys volleyball gym. I saw a pretty girl and stopped by her, "Hello!" I said, and she turned to me, "Is this where the boys volleyball team meets?" I asked. She nodded and I followed her to the gym. We walked in together, I saw 8 guys training, none seemed to be first years.
   I found all of them to be rather cute. Two of them ran over, yelling what I assume is the name of the girl who walked with me, "SHIMIZU-SAN."
   One of the boys was short, shorter than me. He had brown hair with a blonde patch in the front. The other male had a shaved head, he had two notches out of the corners of his hair, and one triangle shape right in the middle. (Explanations are hard.)
   After they were dragged away by who I assumed was the captain I leaned over to Shimizu, "So which of the guys have girlfriends, so I know which ones to not go after?"
   She laughed a little bit and turned her head to me, "None of them have girlfriends, the captain has a girl who likes him, but that's about it."
   My eyes went wide, "NONE of them?!" I smiled and looked over the guys, "Well, that doesn't help me.... How many do you think I'd have a chance with?"
   "Probably Tanaka or Nishinoya, those two who cheered my name when we came in," I looked at the two boys, and a smile crossed my face, "They aren't that bad looking, but I'm not really into super short guys."
   The girl laughed softly again, "Well, I like the grey haired one over there," she pointed at another attractive guy, he was talking with the captain, who had darker hair. She quickly pulled her hand back and smiled, "What are you like?" She asked. I tilted my head and she spoke again, "I can try to match you with a guy who I think would go good with you."
   I smiled and looked at her, "I like volleyball, but I don't want to join a girls team. I like to sing a lot, but only when I'm alone. I guess you could say I'm good at teasing people, I like seeing guys get happy. I've never had many friends because I'm too different from normal people, I like older guys, but I don't see any first years so that's not a problem. I tend to like guys that would be good at protecting me, and just an all around good boyfriend. And someone not so short."
   Shimizu Smiled again and looked at Tanaka, I followed her gaze, "Tanaka seems like he'd be good for you, but don't just go up to him and say so. If I were in your position, I'd get to know him first, and if he asks you to call him senpai, do it. Or just start calling him senpai on your own. I'd suggest asking him to walk you home after practice, because it gets pretty dark."
   I nodded and watched the guys, they all seemed to glance in our direction, but I kept glancing at Tanaka, and I noticed Nishinoya glanced in our direction before whispering to Tanaka, and then Tanaka looked straight at me. I felt my face go red as we held eye contact. He smiled at me and went back to practice.
My eyes went wide as I realized I hadn't introduced myself to Shimizu yet, "Oh! I'm sorry! I never told you my name!" I said and rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "I'm, L/N Y/N!"
She smiled and nodded and we both went back to watching the practice.

By the end of the practice I was sitting against the wall. It was dark out, I grabbed my bag and waited for the boys to get dressed and come back for their stuff. I waited on the ground, and I saw guys come and go, and then Tanaka walked in. He looked over at me and seemed surprised that I was still there.
The male jogged over to me and held out a hand to help me up. I smiled up at him and took his hand, standing up with his help. "Hey, thanks for coming to our practice, I'm Tanaka," he introduced himself. He shook my hand that he already said.
"I'm Y/N, nice to meet you," I smiled as I realized he still held my hand. He quickly dropped my hand and laughed awkwardly, I was about to ask when he beat me to it.
"So, are you walking home by yourself? Because a pretty girl like you doesn't need to be out in the dark by herself," he said, I smiled brightly at him.
"I was actually going to ask if you could walk me home, I didn't think about how I was going to get home tonight," I said, and smiled up at him.
"Well, I'll walk you home then, just let me grab my stuff," he said and jogged over to get his bag.
"Score!" I whispered to myself. I picked up my bag and walked to him.
"Ready?" He asked me, I nodded with a slight smirk. I'd give him his nickname right now.
"I'm ready Tanaka-Senpai~" I said cutely, he blushed and I changed my smirk to a smile, he looked me in surprise.
"L-Let's Go then," he stuttered. I smiled and pulled out my earbuds, I plugged them into my phone and put one in my ear, I held the other one to him.

"Do you wanna listen, Tanaka-Senpai?" He nodded and took the earbud. I put my music on shuffle and Follow Me by 3OH!3 came on. I started to sing as we walked on the sidewalk. "Take me, take me outta here it makes me feel so, feel so na-na-na-na-na-na" I sang the girls part and looked up at Tanaka, wondering if he knew the song.
It surprised me when he started to sing, "Baby, baby, here we all are crazy. You don't have to worry, na-na-na-na-na," he looked down at me, smiling. He started to sing the next part, "So Follow me down."
"Where to?" I sung back.
"Outta this town," he put an arm around me and I blushed.
"With you~" I sung to him, I could barely see his face in the dark.
"Girl you're moving way to slow," we sung together.
"So Follow me down."
"Which way?"
"I'll show you around."
"Okay."
Our voices joined again as we sung the next line, "There's somewhere we've gotta go."
He started to sing the next line on his own again, looking down at me, we stopped in front of my door, "Follow me, Follow me. Fa-la-la-la-la. Follow me, follow me. Fa-la-la-la-la."
I looked up into his barely visible eyes and sang with the music, "Woah oh woah oh woah oh."
I found myself leaning up towards my senpai as the music continued to play. He leaned down towards me and our lips connected. My eyes went wide as he brought me closer with his arm that was wrapped around my shoulders. In the moment I kissed him back, closing my eyes as I brought a hand to his face. We pulled away only to look at each other as the music played in our ears, but we couldn't hear it, we only smiled. I backed away and pointed a thumb over my shoulder.
"This is my house," I said, my cheeks pink, he nodded, "I'll see you tomorrow," I said and went inside.
"IM HOME SCRUBS!" I yelled and hung my backpack up on the hook. My little brother ran in and screamed at me.
"I SAW THAT Y/N WHO WAS THAT GUY YOU JUST KISSED OUTSIDE THE HOUSE?!!" I pushed him lightly and laughed.
"Go to bed," I said while laughing, my mom came from the kitchen.
"Wow, Y/N, you've already been kissing guys that walk you home?" She asked me, I laughed and looked at her.
"It was just in the moment. He's cute and nice. He offered to walk me home and we listened to music and sang together. Then we kissed, it's not a big deal," I said, and went up the stairs to my room. I slept in the only upstairs room, kind of like sleeping in the attic.
I held my phone up and looked at it, smiling, "I'll get myself his number soon. Ah.... he's sweet..." I mumbled. I set my phone down and hugged my pillow, "I can't be in love already.... can I?"
