***(Lil's pov)***

Is this what death feels like?

Because if so, it's painful.

My chest burned like it was on fire and the same feeling was in my leg.

Where was the white light and singing angels?

Or even the fire and red beast with a pitchfork?

My eyes were closed and it took immense strength to finally pry them open.

I squinted as I took in my surroundings.

I was in a bedroom that smelled of dust and rotted wood.

I was lying on a single bed that was pushed in the left corner of the room, and dust danced in the light coming from a window on the far wall.

There was a chest of drawers made from what looked like real oak and a bedside table to my right.

On the small table sat a lamp and a glass of water.

I drank the water greedily and then examined myself.

I was wearing a different set of clothes then I had been wearing when I had been shot.

I was dressed in simple white dress with knee-high black boots.

I stretched and groaned before slowly moving to a sitting position.

I realized suddenly that I was alive.

I hadn't died from my gunshot wounds.

I sighed with relief and deduced that I was at the cabin where Zach and May were staying.

I listened closely and heard the faint, human breathing of May from a room across from mine.

I silently crept out of my room and down the hall to the more familiar living room, where Zach lounged on the couch, an arm thrown over his face.

I listened closely and heard his deep breathing, meaning he was asleep.

I tip-toed past him and towards the front door, needing to get back to the boarding house.

I was almost to the door when I stepped on a creaky floor board.

"Damn it," I whispered when I heard a whoosh behind me.

"And where do you think you're going, Lily-Rose?" Zach asked as I turned around to face him.

"I heard Disney World is fun," I answered.

Zach smirked at my joke then became serious. "I'm glad you're awake, Lil. But you need to wait until May finishes healing you before you go back to the boarding house."

His tone reminded me of the way an adult talks to a toddler.

It pissed me off.

"I'm perfectly fine, Zach," I said, setting my jaw.

"Oh, really?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

I nodded.

"Hm. Well in that case I'll just-" He suddenly moved in a blur and then was giving me a light hug.

I gasped and the pain was so intense in my chest that I saw spots.

He let go of me and held me at arms length.

"You're waiting hear until May wakes up and finishes healing you. End of discussion," Zach said, before walking back to the couch.

"And you think you can just order me around like I'm your servant," I said angrily.
