Even though the wound was still fresh, Liam had asked Niall out on a date. Niall was thrilled, but concerned for Liam's quick change of heart. Liam put the thought out of his mind quickly, sealing the deal with a kiss. Considering they had eaten out last night, Niall suggested they go see a film. When they agreed on the cinema, and what to see, each boy went to their room to get ready.
Niall calls his close friend Josh, just to tell him the news. Josh never knew that Niall felt that way, but he knew something was up when Niall broke it off with Abbie. Niall had no issue with Josh dating Abbie, considering that he no longer had feelings towards her, or any female in general. Josh and Abbie have been going great, expect for the fact that Josh thinks that she is a little self centered. He deals with it though, knowing that she really is a lovely person.
After his phone call with Josh, Niall gets himself ready. He's not so sure what to wear out, because he wants something classy but at the same time casual.
He finally decided on a pair of chinos and a simple plaid shirt. He spiked up his hair ever so slightly, and brushed his teeth. He found his favourite white Supras, and slipped those on. He had been waiting for this night since he first realized his true feelings for Liam.
He went over to the kitchen, and waited for Liam. While he waited, he started sketching two people holding hands. As the drawing developed, he realized that it wasn't just two people anymore. It was him and Liam. He had the fingers intertwined, one thumb resting on the other. He even added some person details - the prominent veins on Liam's hand and the faint scars on his own. He tried remembering everything about Liam's hands, and he hoped that they were fairly accurate. As Niall drew more and more, the more he realized he wanted to hold Liam's hand. Niall wanted to feel his hand wrapped in his, such a gentle and soothing connection. He wanted to feel the warmth, and Liam's soft skin.
So lost in his drawing, Niall didn't even realize that Liam was standing right in front of him. Liam stood there watch Niall for who knows how long. Niall lost himself in his drawings all the time. And Liam just loved watching him. He didn't want to admit it, but watching Niall drawing was one of his favourite things to do.
Niall glanced up, and jumped almost three feet in the air, startled by Liam standing there.
"How long have you been standing there?" he asked, trying to catch his breath.
"How long have you been drawing?" Liam responded.
"About twenty minutes."
"Then I guess I've been standing here for about nineteen."
Niall blushes a deep red, embarrassed by the fact that Liam watched him draw them holding hands.
"Aww, baby, don't be shy about it! I think it's adorable. Here, let's hang it on the fridge."
Liam grabs the sketch from the counter, and looks for a spare magnet on the fridge. He decides he has to take something down from the fridge. As he's deciding, he sees a picture of himself and Danielle kissing. Liam takes it off the fridge, rips it in half, and throws it in the trash. He replaces it with the drawing.
"There we go. A reminder of the best day of our lives."
Liam slips his hand in Niall, recreating the drawing.
"Let's go!"
As they walk towards the door, Niall's phone starts to ring. He just lets it go to voice mail, figuring that it definitely isn't as important as what's happening right now. But it starts to ring again, and he pulls it out.
"Hmm, it's Josh. We only talked about forty five minutes ago. I wonder what's up."
Niall pauses, than answers.
