|Clockwork|
~November 14th~One minute I didn't know what was happening, the next I shot up sweating and in a lot of pain. I frantically looked around to find I was in a room, a bedroom maybe, a nice bedroom. I took a moment to take in my surroundings. To my right was a chair set facing me, almost as if someone was watching me. To my left was a simple but elegant night stand, it was wooden and had a small tray on it carrying a pill bottle and a water bottle. I lunged at the water and downed it in record time, ignoring the pain in my neck and shoulder. The bed I was on was decently sized and had soft silk sheets covering my lower half. The bed itself was again simple but elegant, a hand carved dark wood with intricate curves throughout it. And finally ahead of me stood a large wardrobe and vanity. The mirror was clean and reflected myself in it, I looked at the large gauze bandage placed on my collar bone and held by a wrap going under my arm and over my shoulder.
After a few minutes I didn't want to call for someone to help me so I figured I couldn't be that hurt I'd just go get someone myself. Pushing the covers off I turned my body to the edge of the bed and noticed my leg was heavily wrapped, I simply prepared myself. This is gonna hurt I thought to myself. I grabbed hold of the chair and slowly lifted myself, there was pain but it was bearable. After adjusting to the pain I attempted a step.
Big mistake.
Instant unbearable pain shot through my leg and I collapsed with a yelp. I turned around to look at my leg and noticed the wrap was now starting to seep with blood.
A few seconds later I heard footsteps running, they were getting closer with every step. Since I couldn't do much I just waited for whoever was coming to find me. The door was pushed open and there I swear the boy that saved me. Toby.
"Natalie!" He ran to my side and examined the now red wrapping.
"Ann!" Toby called.
The same girl I saw before walked in wearing the same black nurse's uniform.
"What happened?" She asked.
"I-I tried getting out of bed." I said shyly looking down.
She kneeled down and examined my leg as well.
"Toby get her on the bed, she broke her stitches. I need to redo them or she's gonna keep bleeding." She said calmly.
Toby listened and lifted me bridal style, gently setting me on the bed.
"Thank you." I said, blushing.
"N-no problem, Natalie." he replied with a warm smile.
"Clockwork....my name's Clockwork." I said shyly.
"C-clockwork...I l-like it." He said with a smile, which I returned.Twenty minutes later Ann had finished stitching my leg again and just finish wrapping it. Toby sat with me throughout the whole thing and let me squeeze his hand when I needed to, and trust me I needed to. I'm surprised he didn't even wince at how much I was doing so.
"There." Ann finished with the last pieces of gauze and began packing up her things.
"Now." she began.
"As you can tell you're not in the best shape to be walking around just yet, so sit tight and relax. There are some pain killers next to you and I'll get you some more water since you already helped yourself to the water there. Now about your neck, it's in bad shape, I'm surprised you didn't injure it more when you fell and to be honest you're lucky you didn't you may have very well died from that. The wolf managed to do a lot of damage, not only did it put a large gash in your collar it also slightly shattered the bone and tore the muscles in the area. Needless to say you cannot and I repeat cannot be moving your shoulder. Your leg will be well enough to walk again in maybe a few more days but your collar, neck and shoulder area will take a good few weeks. Let me or Toby know if you need anything else and we'll get you it, just take it easy and you'll be good in no time." She finish with a warm smile and walked out. With Toby now the only person in the room he spoke first.
"So how you f-feeling?" He asked.
"Fine, thanks."
"Uhh where am I?" I asked
"O-oh right, w-we're at Slenderman's mansion. I-its pretty deep i-in the f-forest so we n-never have a p-problem hiding."
"Heard of this place, never believed it existed."
"N-no it's real." He said as he sat next to me on the bed.
"So how long have I been here?" I asked remembering Ann saying something about healing in a few more days.
"T-three days."
"What! I've been out for three days?"
"You lost a lot of blood." He said quietly. The day continued slowly, some of it was me resting some if it was staring at the ceiling because I couldn't move and I was bored. But Toby visited throughout the day. Every few hours he'd come in and check on me and sometimes even just come in to hang out and talk. He's really sweet. I properly met Nurse Ann, she helps anyone who gets hurt but apparently she also has no problem killing people.
Right now Toby and I were reading some of his comic books he brought. Yes I'm a total geek for comics. As far as Toby knows this is a last resort kind of thing...but at the moment I am majorly drooling over Thor. Toby was sitting on the chair besides my bed reading one of The Walking Dead comics, he looked really into it but to be honest it wasn't really interested in zombies and things like that. And it turns out Toby was the one who put the chair besides me and was watching me while I was unconscious, he said he was worried about me. It actually warmed my heart to hear that it made me feel like someone cared, and the fact that Toby did when we barely knew each other helped. Maybe there are good people left in the world.
Toby looked up and caught me staring at him as I thought, making me blush a bit.
"W-what's wrong?" He asked.
I had to think of something I can't tell him how I was thinking about how kind he was.
"Uhh nothing, just trying to figure out why you're so interested in zombies."
He looked at his comic and closed it, then gave me a look of offence.
"F-first of a-all, they're n-not zombies they're W-walkers and secondly i-it's because I need t-to ready w-when they take o-over the world." He said it with such a straight and serious face I couldn't help but break out laughing.
"W-what? I'm being serious here." He said, obviously not, and trying to keep me laughing, and it worked. A few minutes of us laughing together and I managed to calm down enough to talk anyways.
"You are so ridiculous!" I giggled.
"I've b-been told." He set the book aside.
"You know you have a nice laugh, and smile." He said referring to my stitches. I looked down but with a small smile and blush.
"Thanks."
I looked up to see him with the cutest smile I've ever seen.
"You know I didn't do this to make people smile, I did it to scare them. So in other words you're kinda making them irrelevant." I informed him with an as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
"I-I figured, but it still looks nice."
I couldn't help but smile at the compliment. As the day came to an end Toby sat with me and helped when I needed it. He brought me soft snacks and meals throughout the day like soup and fruits. When it started getting dark he came in one final time telling me he has to go out tomorrow so I wouldn't be seeing him till later in the evening.
"That's fine I understand, you still got things that need to be done." He smiled and wished me a goodnight before leaving my room for the rest of the day. After he closing the door I just turned and stared at the ceiling, thinking about Toby and why he was acting so nice to me. We got to know a little more about each other but u don't know him. I know his favorite color, food, movie, and everything but not Toby. And I want to. At the moment he's the only friend I have.I'd like to keep it that way.
