~November 10th~

Finally free...I'm free. I couldn't think about anything else as I stared down at my father's mutilated body before me. I was happy, finally happy. I don't have to live in fear anymore.
I couldn't think about it too much as I heard sirens approaching, asshole must've screamed too loud. I had to move quickly.

Grabbing a gas can from the garage I ran to my room to get my jacket, leaving a trail behind me. From there I ran to the back door and dropped a lighter I had found, good thing my father was a heavy smoker. Running out the back I hopped the fence just in time to see police cars stop in front of my house. I had to leave the area now. Looking at my options I could run into the streets and hope to not be seen or run into the dark woods behind my house...woods.

As I ran I continued to be cut by branches and stumble on exposed roots. I really hate the outdoors. But I can't stop not for a while and not until I know it's safe to rest. So I ran and ran and ran.

Soon enough I couldn't hear any yelling or sirens behind me, the only thing I could hear was my heavy breathing and the dead leaves and twigs crunch under me as I slowed my pace. Coming to a stop I took a moment to try and look around but with no source of light I had nothing but the moonlight to see with. And I saw nothing. It was just too dark, these woods were naturally eerie and dark not even the moon's light passed through very much. After a moment of resting I decided it would be best to continue in my same direction for the rest of the night, shouldn't be too long looks to be midnight to early morning already. Can't be too bad.

The sun was starting to rise. It looked nice, calming. Unfortunately I had no more room for nice, calming things. I continued walking until the woods was visible, taking in my surroundings I admit I was a little creeped out. The woods we're no regular looking woods, the trees were all dead and thin. Like giant spider legs, the thought made me shudder. The woods itself seemed to go on forever, now that I think about it I've been running and walking for hours and I still see no end. The trees are also extremely tall, they tower over you with many branches reaching the top and blocking out much of the light above. It's almost as if the woods want you to be afraid they want you to not come in. And let me say...it works.

Once the sun was fully up I decided I needed actual rest. Simple pitstops wouldn't work for much longer. Finding a thick sturdy tree amongst the thin wasn't hard and soon I found myself sitting on an exposed root leaning against the trunk. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, enjoying the quietness. After a few minutes I convinced myself this place would be perfect for a quick nap. Climbing up the tree I found a thick and sturdy branch to hold me about seven feet up. Getting comfortable I made sure my knives were in hand I rested against the trunk looking up to the tree tops. I noticed this was the first time in a very long time that I could fall asleep without worrying about someone barging in and attacking me in a drunken rage or just because. I didn't have to sleep in fear anymore...I was free. Free. The thought made me smile and I drifted off, listening to my eye tick in a peaceful way.

I woke up a little later, a few hours I'm assuming. The sun looks to be right above me.
Two to three I thought.
I stretched and climbed back down. I was about to set off again, when my stomach stopped me in my tracks. Great. Well I can't just walking into a McDonald's in a blood soaked shirt and jeans, my hair's not done. I silently laughed at my own joke. I looked around but saw nothing in sight edible.
"Ok, gotta do this the hard way." I cracked my neck and drew one of my knives.
Hunting wasn't my best skill but I knew the basics; stay quiet, stay alert and if you get a chance take it. I'm a pretty good aim with my knives, something I've practiced in private before and can say I'm proud of.
