Sa pag-aaral ng isang language. Yung grammar part siguro ang pinaka-boring. Pero kaylangan. So sorry!

1) ADJECTIVES

An adjective is a word that modifies a noun by describing it in some way: shape, color, size, etc.

Ang French Adjectives ay naiiba sa English Adjectives sa dalawang aspects:

1. Ang French adjectives ay nag-iiba, dipende sa GENDER and NUMBER ng noun, so ibig sabihin na there can be up to four forms of each adjective:

Example:

Adjective: joli (pretty)

BY GENDER:

- Masculine singular joli
- Feminine singular jolie

Pag Feminine Form idadagdag lang ang letter -E sa huli ng Masculine form.
In case na may -E na ang adjective sa Masculine form, ibig sabihin, pareho ang masculine at feminine form

BY NUMBER:

- Masculine plural jolis
- Feminine plural jolies

Usually, to form the plural adjectives dadagdagan lang ng -S.

"Pero may mga adjectives na iba ang letra na idadagdag para maging plural or feminine, ayun ay dipende kung paano natatapos ang word."

Mahirap intindihin at hindi ko rin maiexplain ng ayos kaya gagawa ako ng example.

Most French adjectives are regular, but there are a number of irregular adjectives, based on the final letter(s) of the masculine singular adjective.

1- Adjectives that end in a vowel plus -L or -N usually become feminine by doubling the consonant bago idagdag ang -E.

Example of Adjective ending in -L

Adjective: personnel (personal)

Masculine singular personnel
Feminine singular personnelle
Masculine plural personnels
Feminine plural personnelles

Pronunciation: personnel, personnel, personnel, personnel.

As you can see, nag dodouble ang letrang -L bago idagdag ang E.

Example of adjective ending in -N

Adjective: bon (good)

Masculine singular bon
Feminine singular bonne
Masculine plural bons
Feminine plural bonnes

PRONUNCIATION: bon, bon, bon, bon.

As you can see, nag dodouble ang letrang -N bago idagdag ang E.

Example of adjective ending in -EUR

Adjective: flatteur (flattering)

Masculine singular flatteur
Feminine singular flatteuse
Masculine plural flatteurs
Feminine plural flatteuses

Pronunciation: flatte, flattez, flatter, flattez.

Example of Adjective ending in -EUX

Adjective: heureux (masaya)

Masculine singular heureux
Feminine singular heureuse
Masculine plural heureux
Feminine plural heureuses

Example of Adjectives ending in -F

Adjective: neuf (bago)
Masculine singular neuf
Feminine singular neuve
Masculine plural neufs
Feminine plural neuves

Irregular plurals:

The ending -AL changes to -AUX in the plural:

Adjective: idéal (ideal)

Masculine singular idéal
Feminine singular idéale
Masculine plural idéaux
Feminine plural idéales

Pronunciation: ideal, ideal, ideo, ideal.

Pero may mga french adjectives na nasa unahan ng pangngalan:

1) Most descriptive adjectives (Pang-Uring PangLarawan) are placed after the noun they modify. [colour, shape, religion, taste, nationality etc]

- Un livre noir
- A black book

Pronunciation: En livr nwar

- une femme américaine
- An American woman

Pronunciation: In Fem Ameriken.

- une église catholique

2) Certain adjectives are placed before the noun, some which you can memorize with the acronym "BAGS"

Beauty
Age
Good and bad
Size

un jeune homme
A young man

un bon enfant
A good child

un petit problème
A small problem

In addition, all non-descriptive [demonstrative, indefinite, interrogative, negative, and possessive] adjectives are placed before the noun.
