I finally finished the box of candy that I bought this morning and threw it away.

The guy that was in here for like 10 minutes finally came to the counter to pay. He honestly was being a little strange. He placed the items onto the counter and the money onto the counter without me telling the price. Like he already knew? I mean he could be one of those people that count up the exact change before they go to the counter to save a little time.

I counted all of the items and put them into a plastic bag. Then put the money into the register and handed the bag to him. "Have a good day?"

He starred at me for a bit, making me slightly uncomfortable till he nodded and left with the bag in arms. What did he buy? Gauzes, rubbing alcohol, actual alcohol, and a coke with some mints. Just a little weird. Was he injured? It didn't seem like it. Was someone else hurt? I hope not.

I checked the clock on the wall and got the keys as soon as I saw the clock strike 9 PM. Making me smile. I love this job, but it always feels good to get off of work. I work around 3PM to 9PM. Not that bad I guess. I don't get much of a day though. I meet some nice people. Some strange people. So it makes it up.

I got my things. Putting on my coat and my cap that I had on before but took off because it was getting a little warm in the store. I went over to the door when I also grabbed my phone and earbuds. Turning the light that shut off all of them in the building. Closing the door behind me when I went out. Locking it tightly and shoving the keys into my back pocket. I took my earbuds out of my pocket and shoved them into my ears after I started to play music from my phone.

I shoved my hands into my coat pockets as I walked. Keeping my head down. I always look at the ground when I walk, which I have to stop; neck problems.

BOOM

The sound rang through my music. Making me freeze in my tracks. What was that!? I yanked my buds from the ears and looked around me. Moving further down the walkway and to a alleyway and peeking inside. Nothing?

N-No its something. Just not around me. I'm not sticking around to find out either. I stuck my ear buds back into my ears. The music even shut off cause it was the end of my playlist. While I was working and no one was in the store, I listened to music.

SREEEEEEECH

I yanked them back out and turned around. What the hell is going on!? Its nothing to do with gangs and stuff right? I've always taken this route to my place and never had any trouble, and I hope I don't today.

I stuffed my buds into my pocket so I could hear more then I could before. Starting to powerwalk, I was walking past several alleys. Coming up to the one I need to turn into to make it to a smaller walkway that led to near my apartment.

I fell to the ground. My head throbbing I grabbed onto it and cried out. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow".

I felt a hand grab onto my arm with a really soft touch. My eye sight was a little blurred from the hard impact, but I noticed a soft glow when I looked up at the person. Their eyes? They felt so warm.. Like they were safe feeling.

Then I heard shouting and he ran the way he came. Shouting with a voice that didn't suit him. Like he purposefully made it deeper and ran off with people chasing him.

Finally my vision cleared and I continued to look down the alley. To see if the person would come back. Five minutes later, they never did. I used the wall of the building to help myself get up.

"That's gonna bruise". I rubbed my forehead and continued to walk home but carefully.

Who was that person? Why did I feel so... safe?
