With the window wide open, a couple of evergreen leaves fell through his window. The soft breeze was enough to carry the leaves through the air. It was early afternoon, around twelve-fifteen. Today was a sunny day, but it didn't change the fact it was cold. It was December after all.

Subaru slept soundly with his coffin open. Before, he would sleep with it shut sometimes to be left in his isolation. But every day he leaves it open before he sleeps in case she would come and sleep with him.

It happened every now and then, maybe once, twice a week? It started after the death of her best friend, but once she got over it. Despite that, she kept coming and coming.

He always wondered what the two of them were. They seemed a lot more than friends but, at the same time, they both didn't really know.

She's kissed him multiple times and joked about him being with her forever, but it only ever confused him.

Birds chirped happily on the open window sill. They perched themselves on the leaves of his window and bathed in the sunlight.

Subaru still remained still in his coffin, sleeping the day away.

*CRACK*

Subaru awoke suddenly and smashed his fist into the floor, causing the birds to scurry away. He glared at nothing in particular and muttered curses.

"God fucking dammit! Get the hell out of my head for fucking-"

"SUBARU!" You burst into his room with your pajamas on and a little-stuffed toy. He looked at you and glared, "You're more annoying than usual."

"I didn't even do anything yet." You said walking in and shutting the door. You sat down on top of him like it was something you'd normally do.

*Sigh*

He laid back and you cuddled up against him. After the countless times of trying to push her away from him, he finally gave in. He knew he was in love with her.

"I told you to stay away from me. I'm only going to end up hurting you." He said for the millionth time.

"I said no." You responded, also for the millionth time.

Subaru had tried on and on to push you away from him, so he wouldn't hurt you. The effects of the Adam and Eve project made him more tempered and angry than usual. It also made his craving for your blood rise drastically. If he weren't able to control it then he would have killed you.

At least that was before the Adam and Eve project ended. Without him knowing, the second he gave in to you, was when he became Adam.

"What are we?" Subaru asked, staring at the ceiling.

You looked at him confused and answered,

"Aren't we lovers?"

Subaru looked back at you, "It would have been nice if you told me that sooner." He sighed and ran his fingers through your hair.

"Do...do you not want to be lov-"

"Don't say that!" Subaru said angrily, pulling you closer to him. "Subaru..." He leaned in and kissed your head, "I'm happy with you, I'm just not good at showing it. I really love you okay?"

"I know." You grinned cheekily, earning a flick on your forehead.

"Then why the hell would you ask that?!" Subaru shouted.
