I woke up to the sound of somebody calling me. I wiped the drool off of my face and leaned over my nightstand answering the phone not even checking who it was.
"Hello?"
"Hey C.. Can you pick me up from work?" I recognized the voice.
"Kali? Yeah..What time is it? I'll come get you." I looked at my phone which read, 12:15pm.
"Thank you." she hung up.
I jumped out of bed and threw on some sweats and one of my brand hoodies. I put my hood on and jogged down the stairs and got in my car immdiately pulling off.
I honestly couldn't tell you why I was rushing to get to Kali. Maybe it was because it's too late for her to be out by herself. Or maybe it was because I wanted to see her. I'm convincing myself that it's the first one.
Ever since me and Kali became good friends I couldn't get enough of her.
She's not your type though, Clarence.
But her smile, and the way she laughs. When she scrunches her face up everytime someone compliments her. Her scent everytime she hugs me.
She's not your type though, Clarence.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I pulled up to her job and saw her waiting by the double doors. I unlocked the doors and she climbed into the passenger seat. She leaned over and gave me a hug.
"Hey, thank you for picking me up. My uber driver canceled at the last moment and I didn't want to catch the train." she buckled her seat belt.
"It's no problem, sweetheart." I pulled off.
Pills and Automobiles played faintly on the radio as me and Kali sat in a comfortable silence. I occasionally looked over at her just because I could. She smiled.
"What? Take a picture it'll last longer."
I just shook my head as we pulled up to our building. I parked on the street and we walked inside. "What you about to get into?" I asked her since she woke me up and I know i'm gonna be up all night.
"Probably just go to sleep, I have to record in the morning." she sighed as she opened her door and we both walked inside.
She sat her keys down on the kitchen counter and pulled her hair out of her ponytail. She took her jacket off and hung it up in the closet. I watched her as she slipped her work shoes off and placed them in the corner.
I finally spoke up, "You about to go to sleep?" I sat on her couch.
"Yes, I am pooped." she breathed out. "You staying over for a little while? If you are i'll stay up with you." she shrugged.
"Nah go head' and get yo' sleep baby. Imma' see you tomorrow aight?" I stood up from the couch and walked toward her. I pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek.
I left out of her place and heard her lock the door. I walked up to my place and sat on my couch. I DM'd Alaysia, the girl who crib I went over a while back, and told her to come through. A nigga still has his needs.
I checked my messages and saw that Kelsey sent me a question mark. I didn't say anything. I just left her on read. She called me up on some bullshit talking about 'Why you acting so dry with me now? Wassup with you?' When she came over I straight told her what was up, that I wasn't rocking with her no more. She gets the yelling at me telling me I don't deserve her and all that. I ain't even argue back I just let her be big mad until she left. She got hurt because she caught feelings. She got mad at me because I told her that was her fault. We fucking, we ain't in no relationship. It's no strings attached.
