tweek had been wearing the jumper gifted to him by craig for days now. not only because of what it meant to him, but it was his comfiest and warmest jumper and it had been extremely cold recently. he fiddled with the sleeves of it, balling the ends in his fists or flapping them since he was bored and had nothing else to preoccupy him with. he was supposed to be doing homework due in two days but the gnawing feeling of anxiety was rumbling around inside of him that he couldn't concentrate, no matter how hard he tried.

his birthday was coming up in a few weeks and he finally realised just how craig felt, except he wasn't worried who his soulmate turned out to be, but if he would even have a soulmate. he found out after he came home from work a few days ago, when he and craig met up and spoke, that in his family on his dads side they didn't have names on their chests when they came of age. that they just had a blank, nameless chest, never to have a name on their skin of the one they are destined to be with for life.

it was a stressful thought, but tweek wondered if he counted for this. it made him upset to even consider, but he couldn't stop thinking if he would have a name on his chest or not, given his circumstance.

would gender matter? tweek thought. or do soulmates work based on what that person has physically? does any of that matter with the universe choosing who the love of your life will be? what the fuck?!

sighing, tears welling up in his eyes, he pushed away from his desk. he didn't know what was worse, not having a soulmate or having one and dealing with the mass amount of sadness he knew was headed his way if he did. he was thinking he couldn't deal with what exactly that meant if he had a name on his chest.

he tried not to let his emotions get to him as he wiped at his eyes.

he glanced down at the jumper and smiled but knitted his eyebrows in sadness, a pang of guilt hitting him at the thought of craig's name not being on his chest. tweek was sure he would be with craig either way, a name or not. because if he didn't have a soulmate etched onto his skin, craig did and it was him.

he stood up and shook his head as he headed out of his room, he needed a break and a distraction. he walked to the kitchen where his mother was sitting, her hair sticking up in random places as she had just woken up. tweek smiled at her, she looked tired yet still had a graceful look to her as she sipped at her coffee.

"hey, mum," tweek greeted and sat across from her at their kitchen table.

"good morning, sweetie, how are you?" she gave him a more than sympathetic smile and he knew she wouldn't judge him for his fears about his soulmate; or possibly lack thereof.

"i'm... i could be better..." he began, suddenly hyper aware of everything around him.

"what's bothering you, hun?"

"my soulmate... will i get one because i'm- i'm," he got choked up and couldn't continue.

"oh, honey," she got up and walked around to his side of the table, she wrapped him in a tight embrace. "i just want you to know that whether or not you get a soulmate it will be regardless of your gender, you hear me? there's the chance that you will get it because of my side of the family, don't hold it to your dads word. besides, some men in his family got it, as well as some women not getting it, it's not only genes that come into play here, it relies on other factors outside of our control that we don't even understand properly."

"i'm... just worried that this will be letting craig down or-or something, y'know? i know how much this means to him and even though it won't be my fault, i'll still feel horrible."

she pulled away from him and looked him in the eyes, "i believe that at the end of the day, it won't matter if you have his name on your chest or not, it just matters if you will stay with him and love him."

he nods and smiles, it not quite reaching his eyes. he mutters a small "thank you" to her as he goes back to his room. he pulls his phone out of his pocket to see a text from craig.

craig: hey, how are you?

tweek smiled and sniffled, sitting back at his desk as he began typing a reply.

he wasn't sure if he should relay all of this information to him right now, if ever. he wouldn't want craig to worry about him, or what he is going through, either. he figures he should wait until his birthday when he knows what is going on and if anyone is on even his chest when he wakes up that morning.

a pang of anxiety hits him once more at the thought of this whole soulmate business.

he stops thinking to reply to craig.

tweek: im okay,,
tweek: how are you?
tweek: <3

craig: im fine. i was wondering, did you want to see a film this weekend?

tweek: yeah!
tweek: what movie did u have in mind?

tweek: of course!!!
tweek: thats fine with me dude!!

craig: i guess its a date then
