CHAPTER THREE

Zack's point of view

I bit on my lip hard to stop myself from wincing as the woman stood on my foot. Again.

Together we danced along to the violins, me in time with the music, while she attempted to follow my lead. When we twisted so I was in the right direction to see my father across the room, I narrowed my eyes. He simply gave me a firm nod, a signal that if I stopped now, I would be in a load of trouble. I rolled my eyes and sighed in annoyance, and, with great impatience, continued to lead the dance, for the inelegant bitch.

"So do you dance much?" She attempted to start yet another conversation.

"My father forced me into dance lessons when I was younger," I said dully, avoiding her eyes and staring at nothing in particular above her head.

Finally, she seemed to get the hint and shut her lips in a straight line. We stayed silent until the end of the song where I let go of her and without a thank you, walked off, leaving her flabbergasted and basically drooling over me.

Before I was able to reach my father, another someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around expecting a normal-sized person but only see the top of her hair I looked down. She was small but probably only one or two years younger then me. Her brown hair, fell in short layers down her back. The features on her skin made her look Filipino, although with a hint of American somewhere in there.

"May I have this dance?" she said, a smirk forming on her lips.

Again I rolled my eyes, subtly, and reached for her out-stretched palm. Before I led her to the edge of the dance floor, I saw her turn her head behind her and smile at someone in the crowds. I didn't see who it was and honestly, didn't care. So I then began to dance in time with the music. Her dancing was no where near as clumsy as some of the previous girls, but her movements looked stiff as if she weren't certain she were doing the right dance moves.

Honestly to me it was pretty simple. Ignoring the fact I had done the same dance millions of times, I had gotten the hang of it rather quickly.

Neither of us talked the entire dance, which is just the way I liked it. When we finally finished, she looked up at me and spoke. "So, you wanna dance with my friend? You'll like her." She wiggled her eyebrows at me, "she's right over-." She turned around to look over to what I assumed was her friend in the crowd, but stopped short when she couldn't find her. "Well she was right over there a couple minutes ago."

I sighed impatiently and stepped back for her. "This was nice but I gotta go." Before she could speak again, I was off, doing my best to avoid another girl asking me to dance.

I found a flight of stairs leading up to another level. I walked up, hoping to find a bathroom somewhere, to get away from all the god damn people.

After making my way up, I found a hallway leading in two directions. In a split second, I made a decision to turn right. I continued down the hallway, hoping to see a sign for a bathroom. I was about to turn back before I heard the sound of someone talking on what I presumed was the phone.

"That's so fantastic... Yes I'm glad you're feeling better... Okay.... Yes, I will... Love you too... Bye." Then the talking stopped.

I walked to the door and opened it.

Inside the room sat a women around my my age. She sat with a lazy posture, but when I walked in I saw her quickly straighten and something in her expression change. In her hands sat what looked like a cheap flip phone that she fidgeted with in between her fingers. She watched me with big, curious eyes as I walked in. Bright blue eyes shone as an effect from the moon light that lit her face through the window next to her. Her thick eye lashes stood out against her light skin.

I didn't realize how long I had been staring at her until she raised her black eyebrows. "The bathrooms are on the other side of the hall." She then flipped open her phone and stared at the small screen, reading a text, then stood up and looked as if she was about the walk out the door, but something made her stop dead and give me a disturbed look.

Perhaps it was me carelessly staring her up and down. Couldn't help it. She wore a black dress that tightened the top half of her body. The rest of the dress flowed down to her ankles with a slit that showed off her pale leg. She wore black heels that lifted her up a few inches. Her dark brown hair fell neatly down her shoulders. I couldn't help but stare at the divine body.

Then I heard her whistle, as if calling attention to a dog, and click her fingers in front of her face. When I looked up she pointed to her face. "Eyes up here, buddy." I blinked twice in a slight confusion then stared at her face with a frown, suddenly feeling guilty for staring at her. "You need something?" she spoke when I said nothing.

"Just your name." I recovered from my moment of confusion.

"Alyssa," she said simply.

When she didn't say her last name, I said, "Alyssa what?"

"To find out my last name, you're gonna need to know more about me than how the top of my breasts look," she said, one perfect eyebrow raising. With that, she walked out, her hips swaying behind her.

I didn't know who she was, but already I liked this Alyssa girl.
