when someone, anyone says something to me,

i expect rude, hateful words.

my experiences and my childhood have created

a pessimist.

sometimes i wonder,

why do people even bother with me?

but then, someone comes along

and they make my day.

i know im not perfect,

not ugly,

not disgusting,

not worthless.

you're compliments have made me believe

that i, Danielle, am not a burden

nor a mistake.

im beautiful in my own way.

people tell me,

"you're pretty!"

people tell me,

"you look good today!"

i love it when i actually feel good

for once.

their compliments mean more to me

than anyone knows.

thank you all

for all of you have given me happiness.

your compliments are small

but big in my heart.

you've taught me to accept compliments

rather than disagree with people's kind words.

i'd rather forget my name

than forget your words.

you may not believe it,

but i do.

you're all beautiful.

that is a compliment given to all.
