Chapter 4: Mystery

Four days have gone by and still no sign of mum. Devin came hme later at midnight the day he went to go look for mum and told me he couldn't find her but he called the cops. From that day on Sheriffs have been out looking for her. Still no sign. For some reason, I'm not worried. Maybe it's just the shock of... thinking of losing my mum the way I lost my dad. My dad was found at the bottom of a river, that's all I know. I was ten, and that was the day my brother left. Mum lost no contact with him. But I did. He went to go live with some aunt Madeline whom I have never met, in Vermont. He loved our dad so he got depressed. At least that's what mum told me. I have tried forgetting my dad. But it seems he's always there. No matter how hard I try. His smooth blonde hair, deep green eyes. His face is always there, everytime I look in the mirror. I look down to my bedroom floor droplets of water fall. Am I crying? I wipe my face and I head down stairs. The two glasses of lemonade still on the coffee table. I was about to pick up the glasses when the phone rang.

"Hello." I answered praying for good news.

"Sian!"

"Mum! Where are you? Are you okay?"

"Sweetie, I love you! Tell you brother to help me! Now! I'm at ----"

I heard the line go dead.

"Mum? Mum!?" a sudden sense of dread fell over me.

"I love you too."" I whispered into the phone.
