Chapter 3

(Hello again! Sorry for the shortness of these chapters right now- I promise I'll make them longer!)

John

I still thought about it. Did I really like him? Even worse, did he like me back? Well, he can't really like me back now.

Lestrade had called earlier, to say he was bringing some of his old stuff over. I was about to text him when the doorbell rang- it must be him.

"Hi John, just thought you might like some of his stuff that I had in my office." He said as we walked up the stairs.

The first thought that came to mind was: Why the hell did Lestrade have Sherlock's stuff in his office?!

He handed a small box to me 'Sherlock' written in bold on the front. I managed not to flinch at the sight of his name. I set it down on the table, and opened it gently.

"There's lots of interesting stuff, to be honest with ya." Lestrade pulls out a DVD. "You know that birthday message he sent you a while back? This is the uncut version, quite funny if you ask me." He hands it to me and I look at it for a while. "Probably won't even watch it." I say, and Lestrade heads towards the door. "Sorry John, I have to go, see you round!" He calls as he rushed down the stairs and out the door.

Alrighty then.

Might as well watch this silly video.

I pushed it into the DVD player and the wall appeared on screen. How enthralling.

There was talking in the background - Lestrade presumably. Then Sherlock appeared, mumbling to himself and pacing around the room.

"What am I supposed to say again?"

"That you can't make it to John's birthday dinner."

"Well of course I can't go, there are people there... Plus, all of John's friends hate him- you just have to look at their faces."

He pauses.

"What's my excuse again?"

"You have a thing, remember?"

He faces the camera.

"I have a thing."

"Would you like to elaborate on that?"

"No, only lies have detail."

I stop and stare at the video. Only lies have detail... I guess that's true.

"Hello John, sorry I can't make it to your birthday dinner. Anyway, many happy returns. Don't worry, I'll be with you very soon."

I pause the video before it ends.
