LIAM RAN, HE RAN TILL HE FELT like his lungs were going to burst. He couldn't handle the thoughts running through his mind. Theo meant the world to him and he didn't want it to end. He didn't want them to end.
Where was he going? He didn't know. He didn't care. He just kept running. He was thinking of what Scott had said to him, that Theo and him would work everything out when he left for college.
But what if they didn't? He was just a sophomore and Theo was a senior. He could find anyone in the world, he could be with anyone else. So what if Liam wasn't enough?
He was probably over thinking everything, but he couldn't stop. He couldn't get the thought of Theo with someone else that wasn't him. He was terrified. Absolutely terrified.
He didn't realize where he was until he tripped over something and slammed right into the ground, rolling down a hill.
He screamed in agony, holding his arm tightly, trying to fight back tears. Don't cry, Liam. You've done enough of that already. Don't. Cry. He thought to himself. He opened his eyes, analyzing the damage. It was broken. His bone was sticking out.
He sighed loudly, biting his lip and closing his eyes again. He was in so much pain, that he almost forgot about his worries. Almost.
He heard footsteps then, looking around for somewhere to hide. He was in the woods by the preserve. He couldn't get up fast enough, before the figure came up to him.
"Liam? What the hell happened? Are you okay?" He recognized that voice. It was Theo.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, his voice shaking because of the pain in his arm.
"I heard you scream." Theo replied, kneeling down next to him. "What did you do?" He asked, nodding towards the younger boys arm.
"I, uh, I was running and I tripped, you know? Guess it was harder than I thought because my arm is broken."
Theo shook his head, taking Liam's arm in his hands. "Close your eyes, pretty blue eyes. This is going to hurt." He did as he was told and he felt a crack as Theo put his bone back in place. Liam groaned loudly, tears suddenly rolling down his cheeks.
"Hey, Li, what's wrong?"
He sniffled, finally opening his eyes to look at his boyfriend. "I'm terrified, Theo."
"What, why?" He asked, running his fingers through Liam's hair.
"You're going to be leaving for college and - and..." He paused, looking down, "and you're going to leave me."
Theo didn't answer. He didn't know how to answer that. His boyfriend was scared that once he went to college, he would forget about him. It broke his heart to see Liam so upset. So vulnerable. He just wanted to hold him and never let go. So that's exactly what he did.
He sat on the damp ground and pulled Liam into his arms, wrapping his tightly around his body. He put his lips to his head, kissing his hair softly and just held him.
Theo could hear the slight sobs coming from Liam, so he decided it was time for him to say something. He didn't want him to think that what Liam said was true.
"Blue eyes, I'm not going to leave you. I would never leave you. You know why?" Theo said, resting his chin on top of Liam's head.
"Why?"
"I'm not leaving the state to go to college. I'm staying close to Beacon Hills. I'm staying close to you. I don't think I could handle being extremely far from you, Liam. It would kill me. I can't even go a day without being near you, without kissing you or touching you. You really think I could handle going months without seeing you?" Theo explained, before adding, "Being in Colorado for those three months was torture, because you weren't there with me." He finished.
Liam stopped crying, looking up at his boyfriend. "You're not going to find someone better than me?"
That made Theo laugh. "There's no one better than you. You're my soulmate." He whispered.
Liam turned completely around so he was straddling Theo's lap, his arms snaking around his neck. "Promise me. Promise me that this is forever."
Theo rubbed his nose against the boy's, smiling that damned smile that made Liam's heart skip a beat. "I promise."
Soon enough their lips were connected. Liam's fingers were tangled in Theo's hair, and Theo's hands were pressed against the small of his back as they kissed.
And right then Liam knew. He knew that he had found the man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He knew that everything was going to be okay, and he knew that they would make it. And finally, after weeks of worrying, he felt at ease.
