CHAPTER TWENTY
>>> Trillium's P.O.V. <<<
The West house is filled with Christmas music from the moment we roll through the door. Lights are strung throughout the room, and candles line the dining table. The Christmas tree stands a head above everyone else on the opposite side of the room. The fireplace makes the air a bit warmer.
Inside, I see the cheery faces of Iris and Joe West, Cisco, and Caitlin. Cisco is dancing dramatically to the Christmas music, making Cait and Seph laugh. Iris is helping her father prepare the Christmas feast. Ronnie is sitting next to Caitlin, tapping his foot to the music. Everyone is decked out in their finest holiday attire, from gorgeous red, green, and white dresses to ugly Christmas sweaters.
Julian takes my coat, gloves, scarf, and hat and hangs them on the hooks by the door. I mutter a thank you as Iris comes to greet us, a wide smile on her cheery face. "Hi! I'm so glad you guys could make it!" She leans down to hug me, and I return the affection.
"I'm glad you thought of us," Aspen says with a smile as Iris embraces her as well.
Iris pulls back and gives Aspen a look of surprise and mild annoyance. "Why wouldn't I think of you? You saved my fiance's life! Of course you're invited to Christmas dinner!"
Aspen laughs, and Joe enters from the kitchen, wiping his hands on a dish towel. "Nice to see you all. Aspen, Julian, make yourselves at home. Barr and Tril have been here plenty of times."
Cisco stops dancing long enough to wave at us as we walk further into the house. "Merry Christmas, Tril!"
Caitlin gets up to hug me. "How are you feeing?"
"Much better, thanks, Cait," I reply.
Cait smiles and returns to her seat next to Ronnie.
I wave back at one of my best friends with a smirk as Julian moves us into the living room. "Where'd you learn to dance, Ramone? A nursing home?"
Cisco scoffs and continues to dance. "You just wish you had a piece of this."
Julian nearly chokes as he takes a seat in the loveseat next to my wheelchair. "God, please no."
Caitlin, Ronnie, and I burst into laughter. I see Barry and Aspen find their way to the kitchen, offering Joe their help, which he gladly accepts.
Seph runs up to Iris with a piece of peppermint bark. "Iris, did you make the bark? It's so good!"
Iris chuckles, and I hear a new voice enter from the hallway ."Actually, that would be me." Eddie Thawne walks out, leaning on a cane, a smile on his face. "Hey, guys," he says, cheerily despite what he's been through the past few days.
Iris runs to Eddie and helps him to the table. Aspen turns around with a grin on her face. "How are you, Eddie?" she asks, kindness in her tone.
Eddie looks at my sister with a grateful smile. "I'm alive, thanks to you."
Aspen hugs Eddie, and Seph thanks him for making the bark. Eddie laughs and says, "You're welcome. I can cook peppermint bark and that's literally it."
