From three weeks it turned to two months before D finally went back to Kano, in those months Mommy get to know Khadijah much better and her heart keeps telling her that there will never be a better girl for her son than Khadijah .
The journey was uneventful but tiring .The twins were so happy to see their grandparents , they squealed in joy and ran to hug ummie who hugged them with the same enthusiasm .
" Barka da gida Ummie how have you been? " D greeted with a tired sigh.
"Alhamdulillah, am fine how was your journey? " after the pleasantries ummie served D with water and food which she gobbled down and went to her room to pray and rest.
Just as she was about to lie down in bed her phone rang and it was an unknown number, she didn't want to pick but her curiosity gets the best of her.
"Assalamu Alaikum" a cool husky male voice came through before she could speak.
" Wa'alaikassalam " Khadijah answered, making her self comfortable on the bed side drawer.
" Malama Khadijah I know that you will be surprised as to the reason why I called you, blame my heart which can't stop skipping a beat whenever I think of you, believe me when I told you that my poor heart has been patient enough to wait this long " the caller said
" Who are you please? I think you've called a wrong number "
" my heart knows the right thing, it knows that you're the one for me from the first time I set my eyes on you, don't be angry my love, I shall now leave you to rest, till I call. Stay safe, beautiful and happy " he ended the call before she could reply.
Khadijah was in a dilemma as to who the caller is and she kept thinking about his words and voice instead of sleeping which was the plan before he called.
She still have nightmares about her past, she still flinch whenever the opposite sex come close to her. She is still hurting inside, she is still praying for her bundle of blessings, she is still dreading and cursing the day she met Ahmad, what hurts her more is the way not a day pass by without her thinking of him, wondering what he is doing, if he ever think of her and the kids, whether he is hale, hearty and happy.
Thinking back to the time when their love was once smoldering hot, when they never think any force can break them, when they were so happy as if the world will never come to an end, when they were planning a fairytale future ahead, when not even in her wildest dreams has she ever thought him to be a monster.
She didn't get off of her bed until after the call for maghrib was made. After she said her prayers and azhkars she opened her travelling bag.
There was a long flowing gown with intricate designs on it she bought for Ummie, an expensive designer perfume knowing that Ummie is a lover of perfumes, a purse and sets of earrings.
A gift box set of perfume, cufflinks , body lotion, shower gel and shaving cream for Baba, a shirt and a set of pyjamas.
She picked the gift items and went out to meet her parents eating dinner from the same plate and each of them feeding one of the twins, with a sweet smile she joined them without a word and they ate in a peaceful silence, glancing at each other with a loving look.
