Alone on the deck and absolutely bored out of my mind, I decided to do a little gymnastics. I started off with somersaults because they were easy. Then I did front flips. They weren't hard exactly, I just had to be careful I used enough momentum to land on my feet instead of my head.
After a few of those, I turned a cartwheel. Unknowing of the consequences, I turned a few more until I got dizzy and fell to the deck. I lay there for a few moments until I burst into laughter. "Leave it to me to not realise I was making myself dizzy," I joked. "Wonder if I can."
Standing up, I attempted a backflip. I ended up hitting the deck on my back with my legs over my head. Ignoring the slight pain in my shoulders, I laughed again. "I knew that wouldn't end well, but I had to try."
Standing once again, I stretched a bit to loosen up. "Alright. Time for the grand finale! Wish I had an audience." Making sure I was all loosened up, I bent over backwards and put my hands on the deck. Lifting my legs, I swung them so that I was now on my feet.
I did this a few times before I bumped into something hard. I instantly became confused. The wall was in front of me and the railing wasn't this solid. Even though I wasn't sure how, I'd ended up sitting with my back against whatever I'd run into when I crashed.
Curious, I reached behind me with one hand to see if I could feel what it was.Let's see I thought. it's tall, kinda thin, hard...wait. Is...is that...muscle? I poked at whatever I was touching and felt muscle. Unfortunately, it wasn't just any muscle. It was a quadricep. I face-palmed immediately. I was feeling up someone's leg. I thought as red rushed to my cheeks. How humiliating.
I looked up to apologize only to have all color completely drain from my face. Heck, it's possible the color drained from my whole body so that I looked like a living version of Brook. Why? Because the person I'd just bumped into and unintentionally felt up was the king of Dressrosa himself; Donquixote Doflamingo.
He grinned down at me before lifting a hand in greeting. "Hi there," he said.
I didn't respond. I couldn't. My brain had ceased all communication to the rest of my body.
Doflamingo's grin merely widened. "Aw, what's the matter? Did you go mute?" he teased.
I sat quietly for a few more seconds. Then a blood-curdling scream ripped from my throat as I jerked to my feet and bolted for cover. Diving into a barrel, I could hear his laughter. Apparently my terror amused him.
Hearing footsteps approach my barrel, I shifted into kitten form to make myself smaller. I heard the lid being moved and placed my paws over my head. Don't kill me, don't kill me I thought over and over.
"Jewel?"
Looking up, I saw my best friend with the barrel lid in her hands.
"What're you doing in there?"
Relieved, I leaped out, shifted to human and tackled her in a hug. "Fluffy! Thank god you're here!" I cried.
"Uh, Jewel. What's the matter with you?" she asked.
Standing up, I helped her up as well and turned her around. " That is the matter with me," I explained, pointing to Doflamingo who looked thoroughly entertained.
He simply waved at us.
Fluffy shifted into a kitten, growling and hissing at him.
"Uh...Fluffy?" I asked the puffed-up kitten.
She ignored me and charged the pink feather wearing psycho.
"Gah! Fluffy, no!" I ran after her and scooped her up before she could attack him, earning scratches and bites all over my hands and arms. "Ow! Fluffy, stop scratching me. I'm trying to save you from a tortured death!" I cried, struggling to hold onto her. Feeling a hand on my head, I looked up to see we were a lot closer to Doflamingo than I wanted to be.
"Fear not, little one. I am not here to harm you nor your friend," he assured.
Fluffy took my momentary distraction as a chance to attack Doffy. Unfortunately, since his hand was still on my head, I earned a few scratches to my scalp and face. "Youch! *$#@ Fluffy, stop attacking Doflamingo! You're scratching me!" I yelped.
The enraged fluff-ball that was my best friend dropped to the deck, hissing at Doffy. Placing a bloody hand to my now bleeding face, I scowled down at her. "That hurt you know," I scolded her.
Blinking up at me, she rubbed against my leg in apology.
I shook my head with a sigh. "You won't be forgiven that easily." Picking her up by the scruff of the neck, I began walking to the dining hall where I knew the others to be. Turning back, I said to Doffy, "You're welcome to come join if you behave yourself."
He was frowning at the scratches and bites on his hand. "Actually, I may need a bit of medical attention. Your friend has rather sharp claws," he said.
"Follow me. I'll help you out once I finish with her." Reaching the dining hall, I walked over to Ace and dropped Fluffy into his lap. Ace glanced down at her before looking up at me. When he did,his eyebrows reached his hairline. "What happened to you?" he asked.
"Your fluffy girlfriend happened to me because I tried to prevent a suicidal attack on our feathered guest," I explained walking towards the exit. I didn't get too far before Luffy and Law jumped up to attack Doflamingo. Without much thought, I ran between them and stood protectively in front of him. Everyone looked at me in surprise.
"Get out of the way, Jewel-ya," Law hissed.
"No," I denied, voice firm though my legs shook. I felt the way Usopp probably does whenever we came across a strong opponent. At this point, I wouldn't blame him for fainting. I was standing between three very powerful beings; two of which could easily kill me and the third could beat my ass into the ground.
Law's eyes narrowed dangerously and I almost begged for mercy right then and there. "What did you just say?" he asked, voice deathly calm.
"No." I repeated, voice about an octave higher. Clearing my throat, I tried again. "I said no, Law. Young Master promised to behave himself so I refuse to allow you to harm him." I resisted the urge to bang my head against something at calling Doflamingo "Young Master". Looking up at said male, I queried, "You did promise to behave, didn't you?"
"Fufufu. I promised no such thing. However, as you volunteered to help with my injuries, I promise to be a good boy," he said.
I raised a suspicious brow in his direction and he raised his hands, wiggling his fingers.
"See? No fingers crossed, I'll behave."
Satisfied, I leveled a glare at Luffy and Law. "You saw and heard him, back down." I warned.
Giving Doffy one last suspicious look, Luffy walked away. Law, however, didn't budge. "Trafalgar, I said back down," I said
Law glared right back at me. "No. I don't trust this man and neither should you," he argued.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. My cheeks flamed red at what I was about to do. I walked over to Law, bent him back in a dance pose and kissed him. While I distracted his mind and mouth with my mouth, I carefully caressed his arm with my hand. Before he could register what happened, I straightened him back up, his Nodachi in my hand.
Caressing his cheek with my free hand, I commanded "Now sit." In a daze, he walked back to his seat and sat down. It wasn't that I had mind control powers or anything, I'd just shocked his brain so bad, he didn't know what else to do. Turning to the rest, I asked, "Any other objections?" They were too stunned by my bold move to respond. Raising my voice a bit, I repeated, "I said any other objections?" I was met with various forms of "no" and many head shakes.
Nodding in satisfaction, I chirped, "Good!" Turning to Doflamingo, I gave a bow and held an arm out in invitation. "If you'd kindly follow me, sir, I'll treat your wounds immediately."
Doflamingo chuckled as he followed me to the infirmary. "You're a strange one, aren't you?" he commented
"Hardly," I responded.
"Oh?"
"My special talent seems to be getting myself in trouble or irritating the hell out of my friends."
"That isn't what I meant."
"Do tell, then."
"Well, during your little acrobatic scene-"
"You saw that?" I hadn't meant to interrupt, but I had thought I was alone. When I'd wished for an audience, Doflamingo was not what I had in mind.
"Yes, is that a problem?" he asked.
"Well, I-I suppose not, but I hadn't intended for a man in high power such as yourself to see me......well, act stupid," I admitted. By this time, we d reached the infirmary. Thankfully from this point onward, I wouldn't have to look at him. "Sit, please," I instructed pointing to a bed. As he went to sit down, I began to search for the supplies I'd need.
"Anyhow, during your act, you seemed so free-spirited. Once you realised you'd bumped into me, you became amusingly afraid. When your friend attempted to attack me as a kitten, you became rather brave-"
"You mean stupid," I interrupted again as I tried to find the disinfectant. A chill crawled up my spine as he sent a look at my back for interrupting again. Chuckling nervously, I said, "Continue."
"As I was saying, you became rather brave and tried to stop her, earning several injuries to yourself. Finally, you stand up to your friends, despite being afraid to protect me. Why is that?"
I shrugged, letting out a triumphant "HA!" as I found the disinfectant. "Beats me. Now, let me see your had, Young Master, and I'll get you all bandaged up." I sat in front of him.
"And another thing. What is with that?" he asked, holding his hand out to me.
"With what?"
"Calling me Young Master and sir. I didn't ask you to."
I frowned as I attempted not to shake from nerves. The hand I now held in mine was very powerful and just a twitch of one of the fingers could end my life. Well, if he doesn't kill me, Law probably will. I thought, cleaning the scratches. "This will sting," I warned as I began using disinfectant.
He hissed in pain and I immediately let go when his fingers twitched. When I felt no immediate danger, I went back to work. "You didn't ask me to do this either, yet I am." I answered.
"For what reason?" he asked.
I puffed up my cheeks, unsure of the answer myself. I thought it over as I cleaned and disinfected his bite marks next. It was silent between us for a few minutes. "Because, Young Master," I began, unraveling the bandages. "I am terrified of you."
"What?" he asked, obviously confused.
I began wrapping his hand. "I am terrified of you," I repeated. "You scare the shit out of me, so I hope that by being nice to you, you'll decide not to kill me and my friends." I finished wrapping his hand and before I could stop myself, placed a sweet kiss on his bandaged knuckles.
Cheeks flaring up at what I'd just done, I dropped his hand and backed away. "Well, you're all done now, so, you know, take care!" I exclaimed. Turning my back to him once again, I began to clean and disinfect my own scratches and bites.
I was so focused on trying to ignore the awkwardness, I didn't hear Doflamingo approach. Because of this, I nearly shrieked when I felt a had under my chin turn my head to the side and tilt it up. Instead, I let out a startled squeak. Seeing that it was only Doflamingo didn't help much. "Wh-what?" I stuttered, not fully looking at him.
"You may need medical attention. What was that all about?" he questioned.
Removing his hand, I went back to work. "Habit. Now please, go away," I told him. I began to search for more cotton balls when a hand was placed over mine. I felt another chill as my heart beat against my ribs. "Let me take care of it," he offered.
"That's quite alright, Young Master. I can handle it," I insisted.
"It's the least I can do."
For the first time in about twenty minutes, I actually looked up at him. Before I could think, I muttered, "Yeesh you're tall."
Doflamingo merely smirked. "I'll take that as a 'go ahead' then?" he teased.
"If you must," I answered, looking away again. It was quiet between us as he cleaned and disinfected my wounds. A few times, I wanted to speak but I felt it wasn't my place to. At one point, I almost physically restrained myself from touching his coat. It was so fluffy and soft looking. I wanted to pet it. Hearing a chuckle, I glanced over at Doflamingo who was bandaging my left hand.
"Go ahead," he said.
"What?" I asked.
"I know you want to touch my coat, go ahead."
Cautiously, I reached a hand out and let my fingers brush the fathers. Eyes widening, I let my had lay flat against the coat. It was so soft! Entranced, I began running my fingers through it, enjoying the feel.
Full out laughter brought me back to reality and I realised that at some point, my hand had gone from the coat to Doflamingo's hair. Face exploding in a red so deep it was almost purple, I snatched my hand back, stammering out apologies.
"Fufufu, you're cute," he chuckled, causing my ears to redden. "Tell you what, once I'm finished, I'll let you ride on my back to go outside. That way, you can really feel soft it is."
I perked up at this, excited at such an offer. "Really? You mean it?" I asked.
"Sure, why not?"
I almost hugged him but, assuming it was inappropriate, refrained from doing so. After he'd bandaged me up, he turned around and I eagerly hopped onto his back, causing him to stumble slightly.
"Oof! You're heavier than I expected," he commented.
"I'm sorry! I can walk if I'm too much!" I answered.
"Now Jewel, don't insult me. You're not too heavy."
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden."
"Nonsense! I offered."
"Okay." We left the infirmary and I could hear the others on the deck. "Oi, 'Mingo! What'd you do with Jewel?" I heard Luffy ask.
"I have done nothing with her," Doflamingo responded.
"Then where is she?" Fluffy asked.
Shimming further up, I poked my head over his shoulder. "Present!" I chimed, grin plastered on my face. Many of them gawked at me. "Jewel, get down from there," Nami said.
"Mm...no!" I disagreed.
"What?" Usopp asked.
"I said no."
"Jewel, why are you on Doflamingo's back?" Fluffy asked me.
"Cuz he let me! Besides, his coat is so fluffy and soft!"
"But Jewel, you missed breakfast and it's time for training."
"Aw cheese and crackers, already?"
Fluffy nodded and I let my head thump against Doflamingo's shoulder with a sigh. "Alright, alright I'm coming," I grumbled. Releasing my grip, I slid off his back and landed on the deck. "Thanks for the ride, Young Master. I'll see you around!" I called, walking over to the crow's nest.
"Fufufu, anytime Jewel!" he called back.
