I padded around the deck of the Sunny, rather bored. Fluffy and I had been traveling with the Heart Pirates for about a year and a half now and they'd teamed up with the Strawhats, thus the reason I was on the Sunny, not the Tang. I had grown comfortable with the Heart Pirates and often debated on revealing my true form to them or not.
“Jewel! Hey, Jewel, wait up!”
Pausing, I looked behind me to see Fluffy running up to me.
“Hey, Fluff. What's up?” I asked.
“I wanted to ask you something.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Do you think you'll ever let them know about you?”
“You mean that I'm human and not an ordinary kitten?”
“Yeah.”
“I dunno. I'm comfortable enough to do so, but I don't want to get kicked out of the crew or, you know, killed.”
“I think you should.”
I stared at her for a moment, trying to figure out her motive behind this conversation. My eyes narrowed and ears flattened upon realization. “I'm your guinea pig, aren't I?” I demanded.
Fluffy had the gall to look innocent. “What? No! I just think you should be able to be your true self,” she defended
“Liar. You want to become human in front of them, but you're afraid of how they'll react so you want me to do it first.”
Her ears lowered and her tail curled by her side. “Is it so wrong to be cautious?”
“It is when you're selfish about it and risk your best friend!”
“Aw come on Jewel! If they kick you out for lying to them, I'll come with you!”
“No. If I get kicked off the crew, you have to live with the fact you basically sentenced your best friend to death.” I walked away at that.It had been a few days since that conversation and I was still trying to decide when to show them I was human. The growling of my stomach and craving for sugar gave me an idea. Closing my eyes, I concentrated on my human form. First, I grew from 10” to my normal 5’4” height. Then my fur darkened from bluish-grey to brownish-black and receded from my body to my head. My paws lengthened and toes spread to become hands, feet, toes, and fingers. My nose and mouth shrank back to a human face, knees snapped back to the normal direction and my spine sucked into my back so I lost my tail. I nearly fell over since I'd gotten so used to using my tail for balance. It was beyond weird to be human again as I’d been a kitten for so long. Carefully, I made my way to the kitchen and nearly fell about seven times. Stupid balancing tail, I internally grumbled. Spotting Sanji at the stove, I spoke up. Or at least tried to. “Reow! Ahem. S-Sanjiiii. Can...can you do me a f-f-f-favor?” I requested. It was surprisingly difficult to talk because for two years, my vocal chords had only made cat sounds: purring, meowing, yowling and hissing.
Sanji turned at the sound of a new voice and almost fainted. “Of course, my wondrous beauty! Anything for you!” he stated.
I rolled my eyes and made my request. “I’m c-craving sweets. Can you make me some?”
“Absolutely my dearest!”
I sat patiently as Sanji made me a plate of brownies. “For you, my dear!” he announced happily.
“Thank you, Sanji!” I walked back on deck to enjoy my sweets before freezing as I noticed everyone was staring at me. “Uh…...hi.” I greeted uncomfortably.
