Y/N's POV
The first day of my senior year... I'm a senior now. And damn, does that make me feel old.
How the hell am I graduating this year when I still feel like some 15-year-olds or something?
Classes went by smoothly and soon it was the lunch break, I went to our usual spot to find it... empty? I shrugged it off and sat down there, eating my sandwich alone. It felt like an eternity has passed with this no one showing up, so I pulled out my phone to text Dinah.
[11.01 AM] Y/N: Where r u?
[11.02 AM] Dinah: Other side of school
[11.02 AM] Y/N: And where's that
[11.02 AM] Dinah: Just stand up and walk across the cafeteria
I did what was told and was met with the blonde girl and two faces I've seen before, but don't know the names of.
"Hey," the two strangers greeted.
I awkwardly waved back and planted myself down on the bench facing them.
"I'm gonna be hanging here from now on, so feel free to join us if you want," Dinah informed me.
"Uhm sure. Why the sudden change of table though?" I asked.
"It's less loud here," Dinah said, making me slowly raised one eyebrow at her. Yeah, it may be less crowded here, but I won't say it's less loud. We're literally sitting right next to the cheerleaders' table and they're definitely not known as being quiet.
There was an awkward silence among the table. Suddenly one of the girls spoke up, making me jump slightly in my seat. "Hi, my name's Ally," she said in a cheery voice.
"Y/N." I pulled out my hand, but instead of her shaking it, she pulled me into a hug over the picnic table. I turned to the other girl and shortly introduced myself, which she responded to, "Hey, I'm Normani."
"So.... how was your summer break?" Dinah asked no one in particular.
"Short," we all answered in sync. Wow, that was pretty cool. The three of us looked at each other and laughed. It's true though, this summer vacation has felt more like two weeks instead of two months.
Stories were being told about their own vacation while I just sat there to listen. I've literally done nothing the whole summer, so there's nothing I can talk about either. Just when Dinah was talking about that time she had to babysit her little nephew and how all hell broke loose, a familiar figure showed up behind the three of them.
Why does she look so sad? Wait... are those tears in her eyes?
I silently caught Dinah's attention and pointed towards Camila. "Wha-- Chancho?" she cut herself off once she saw the brunette. Chancho?
They both shared a look without any words being exchanged before the blonde girl looked at Ally and Normani knowingly. The two of them stood up and excused themselves, leaving me there with Camila and Dinah.
"Uhm... should I go too?" I asked hesitatingly.
"Things are safe with her, so it's okay," Dinah assured Camila. She nodded her head and pulled Dinah up from her seat only to crush her into a tight hug.
Soft sobs were heard as the blonde girl comfortingly rubs her back. "Austin broke up with me," came out very softly.
"You were too good for him anyway."
"H-he said that he's never really liked me and that he...he" she stopped mid-sentence and sniffed.
"That little son of a bitch, Imma give him a Poly beatdown-"
