Adeel snapped his head when the door of his office creaked opened.

For a moment he thought he was dreaming, there was no way she could be there, but reality hit him.
And there were no words to describe his anger.

"What are you doing here?" He growled.

Maria gave out a laugh, her high pitched voice bouncing through the walls.

"Can't I visit my cousin?" She smiled.
Anyone could be fooled into her act, with those striking brown eyes, chestnut curls and sweet smile, but Adeel knew better.

"No. You can't." He stated, containing his urge to shout. "Get out, now."

"Oh, come on Adeel." Maria took a few steps closer, until she was right in front of his desk. "Just because we were once in love, doesn't mean we can't be friends."

"We were not in love!" Adeel shouted, jumping to his feet.

The rage in his eyes told her clearly that he hadn't forgotten the damage she caused to his relationship with his father and his wife.
The way she humiliated her and accused him of things he never did!

"Adeel, don't lie." She insisted, not taking the hint. "I was everything to you before that kutti came between us."

This was the last straw for Adeel.

He stomped around the desk, grabbing the girl by her shoulders, his hands carving in with as much force he had.
Her whole body shook with fear, but it didn't make him withdraw.

"Don't you dare talk about her like that! Ever!" He shouted.

"Or what? She deserves it!"

Adeel snapped a hand back and lashed it towards her face, but just before his palm slammed into her face, he stopped.

A different pair of brown eyes flashed his eyes, the ones of the woman he scared a thousand times before.
Rana.

"Hmm."  Someone cleared their throat.

Adeel and Maria looked towards the door, where a woman with a pair of glasses placed upon her nervous eyes stood.

"Sorry, but I'm Tanha Inayat. I've been sent for an interview." She said.

Adeel, having realized his hand was still in the air, dropped his arm.
He looked at Maria once again, there was no denying the disgust he felt for her, but he knew slapping her would have been a bad decision.

"Maria, leave. Miss Inayat, take a seat." He said after clearing his throat.

"But-" his cousin began to protest.

"Leave." Adeel said more firmly.

She scoffed at him, swinging her brown locks, and walked out.

👄

Familiar face dropped in.
What did you think of it?
