12 | Gonna be Alright

Marinette's POV

Before I could get out of the school I heard a voice call out my name.

"Marinette!"

I turned around and saw Adrien running in my direction with Nino trailing behind him. Ayla nudged me with her elbow and said, "Here's your chance, go talk to him."

"Hey, Nino. I want to show you something in the um...the..." Ayla started to stutter then gave Nino a pleading look and glanced at me and Adrien.

Nino started to understand what she was trying to do. "Oh, yea let's go and check it out. I can't wait!" Nino and Ayla started walking away leaving it to just me and Adrien.

"So Marinette... I want you to understand that I care about you, Ladybug or not," Adrien looked into my eyes. I shifted uncomfortably, I felt like I was naked with him looking deep into my eyes like that.

I looked everywhere but him. When I finally mustered enough strength, and before the silence got too awkward I finally said something.

"Adrien I care about you too, a lot actually. I don't know if you have noticed but I've had a huge crush on you," I looked up to meet his suddenly brightened eyes.

"But the real me is Marinette. Ladybug is just an alternate self of me," I said looking back down at the ground.

"Marinette, no matter how different you are from Ladybug, you are still her. Whether Ladybug has more confidence and boldness, you have just as much determination and talent as she does. Like that hat you once made, I have no clue where you got that idea, but that wasn't Ladybug, that was you, Marinette. That day when we took down Stone Heart, I looked at Ladybug as if she was the bravest, daring, and smart person I have ever met, and that is how I look at you now," I looked back up to Adrien and saw him blush, his cheeks turning beet red.

"But you just can't... Ladybug is so... we are just so..." before I could finish my rambled up thoughts Adrien's hand picked up my chin to make me look in his eyes.

He then started leaning in, tilting his head. I couldn't move or react my body was frozen. Somehow I started to stand on my tiptoes to get more level with him. He leaned in more and then he smashed his lips against mine. My heart exploded out of my chest it was beating so loud. Adrien took his arm and wrapped it around my waist pulling our bodies closer together. I was afraid he could hear or feel how fast my heart was beating.

He pulled away, his thumb tracing my jawline and both of our foreheads touching. I exhaled and started panting, I didn't realize I had been holding my breath from the moment he started leaning in.

"Sorry it was the only way to get you to shut up," Adrien chuckled.

I responded with a shaky smile.

He took my hand and we started heading out the school. My eyes scanned everywhere and no Ayla or Nino. They must've gone along without us. The limo for Adrien's ride showed up and Gorilla, his chauffeur and I guess bodyguard got out and opened the door.

"Here let me give you a ride home M'lady," he took me towards and limo and let me get in before him.

I sat down on the comfy seat and looked out the window. Adrien got in after me with our hands still intertwined. I thought back to Valentine's Day when I saw the poem he wrote.

Your hair is dark as night, your pretty bluebell eyes, I wonder who you are beneath that strong disguise. Every day we see each other and I hope that you'll be mine, together our love could be so true, please, will you be my Valentine?

He wrote that to me and Ladybug. I also thought back to my poem in response to his too.

Your hair shines like the sun, your eyes are gorgeous green, I look at you and wonder your innermost thoughts and dreams. Yes, your Valentine I will be, our love will be so true, together for eternity, my heart belongs to you.

I turned my head and looked at Adrien, he was already staring at me. I gave him a small smile as he squeezed my hand letting me know that everything was gonna be alright.

Authors Note: Don't worry I'm not distracted that much with this chapter. My mom has the news on right now *eye roll* I don't get the news there is so much depressing stuff on it, whoever would watch it over Netflix is crazy! There's a lot more I thought was gonna happen but I guess I just got bored and thought this was a good place to stop.
