Chapter 6: Nose Job

It was time for more practice with Alberta, she promised she was going to teach me to fight a Strigoi with a Silver Stake.

We were meeting in the field so everyone can see. Yay.

When I got there she came out of no where and threw a silver stake on the ground.

"A Silver Stake. Don't be afraid of it. Besides the sun, a silver stake is your only friend against the Strigoi." Alberta said in a calm voice

I picked up and it felt right in my hands. "When do we get started?" "Now."

I swiped for her head, she ducked and stood back up. I swiped again and she ducked and moved to the right where she grabbed my arm mid striae and twisted it around until I broke free and turned around to fake thrust into her heart.

"Good. You're a natural. It won't be that hard to train you."

And we kept repeating of the practicing until it was time to got to sleep.

When we parted I said goodbye to Alberta. And went to bed.

The next day it was feeding time and I wasn't hungry so Lissa went by herself to Norrine while I met with one of Mia's friends, Camilla.

"It's nasty. If you guys were doing it, I'm not surprised Rose got addicted and necked with Jesse." She said. I turned to her while we were walking and stopped her.

"She didn't do it with Jesse. And it's not like we fornicated. We didn't just have any feeders. It's no big deal, Camilla." I compelled Camilla. "Yeah, it's no big deal. I mean, Jesse's a liar." She said compelled.

"What are you guys doing tonight?" I asked Camilla, "Shannon and I are going to her room to study for a Meisner's test."

"Invite me." I compelled her, "Amelia, you want to study with us tonight?" "Sure." I told her.

Camilla then left and then in the courtyard Mia's friends, guy and girl walked by and noticed me. "Oh, look. It's the Queen's court jester." They guy said while I started to walk towards him when the girl left, "You can't talk to me like that. The Queen treats me like a daughter, so you should be envious." I approached the guy. "You're buds with Mia. what secrets are you keeping?" I compelled him.

"I like to wear my mommy's knick..." He said compelled, "Not about you. Secrets about Mia." I told him as we started walking together from the courtyard.

He told no interesting secrets so I now walked alone looking for Rose. Until I saw her slumped in a bench in the school,her eyes a mix of colors.

I pinched her shoulder. "Busted." "Ow"

"Did you witness how amazing I was?" I asked her, "I felt it. Using the power has an effect, a cost, on both of us. Look at you, you're shaking. I'm shaking" She warned me while I stood in front of her, "Three cups of coffee shaking." I tried to explain. "More like 18 cups, dark roast, no room." She tried to explain to me.

All of a sudden Natalie came out of nowhere and slid next to Rose on the bench, "I got it, the computer." Rose and I were confused, "What?" Natalie turned to Rose, "I told you. Mia's on a field trip..."

I looked away and saw Christian coming my way and smiled, "Hey, you. I'm sorry I haven't been to church in a while, but..." When he reached me, "It's OK. You don't have to pretend anymore." He said and then glanced at Rose, "You've had your little flirtation with the dark side. Check that box and move on." I was confused.

"What are you talking about?" I stammered heartbroken, "But, hey, nice hypocrisy on the magic use." And then he walked away. I watched heartbroken.
