Maya's point of view

"Love her?" he asked unsure.

"Just do that. We like that." I said chuckling. We both leaned in. I hugged him. I missed this. Huckleberry. Us being friends. Not liking him. I only liked him because a part of Riley never went back.

I had a part of Riley. But Riley being Riley she brought me back. She did it because she loves me. He got up and left to go find Riley. I sat down so I was in the middle of the fire.

"What do you want?" I said teasingly.

"Ohh me. I was just over there watching that whole thing. " he said in a very cute and attractive way. 

"Yeah. We get it you watch stuff. So what did you think?" I said.

"I thought this, for me to ever think that I don't need a friend like you in this world, just cause I'm a little older, makes me a lot more mature than I want to be." he said.

A small smirk make a way onto my face. "You know Boing, there are six weeks out of the year between our birthdays where we're only 2 years apart," I said looking at my fake watch. "Like, oh I don't know, right now." I said. "So how about this, we hold hands six weeks out of the year. I'll take it!"

"We could do that. Or how about I like my deal better." he said. I motioned for him to continue. "You once said you were playing the long game." he said.

"I like you, Josh. It's you I like." I said to him in a tone where he knew I was serious. I like Josh. I know I do. I have liked him from the day I met him. I knew that I liked him from that moment on. It's hard not to like him when he's him.

"I like you, too. And I'd never not want you to be in my life." he said. I couldn't stop the smile on my face.

Smiling he said, "So how about we try this-" I cut him off immediately.

"Boyfriend and girlfriend, right now." I said hopefully because all I had was hope. He made me feel crazy emotions.

Not just that he made me feel the one thing i thought I would never have, hope.

"No." he said. But that didn't stop me.

"Boyfriend and girlfriend, eventually." He didn't answer or deny, his silence and smile was all I needed. He looked away and leaned on his knees not giving me eye contact. I grinned from ear to ear.

"You're not saying no. You have you to say something. " I said.

"I'll play the long game." The small voice crack in his voice made me want to giggle uncontrollably.  "Live your life. I'll live my life. I know you're out there. And I'm out there, too." he stated.

I smiled. "That's your deal?" I asked.

"That's my deal." he said.

"Someday?" He offered his hand for me to shake. Who am I to say no to that

"Someday." I shake his hand.

I keep shaking his hand. This was the second time holding his hand. Could this day get any better.

"Let go." he said, but didn't make any effort to remove my hand.

"Someday."
