Josh's point of view

"Kayla Marian Martinez! Help me. You are a girl. You do this right?" I said pulling and tugging at my hair. "You mess with guys brains?"

"Maybe it was a buttdail?" She shrugged clearly annoyed because this was the fifth time I was yelling for help in the past minute.

"Does that mean she doesn't want to talk to me?" I ask, throwing my phone on my bed.

Looking at my best friend, Kayla.

She was a very pretty girl, very attractive. Her black hair cut to her shoulders, with bangs. And her eyes almost blues, but with a hint of green. She had thin pink lips, and pale skin.

She is my best friend and nothing more. I would do anything for her, and she would do the same, maybe even more.

"Maybe?" She said more with a question.

"You know, I just want to let you know that you are no fuckin' help!" I basically yell. Frustrated that I didn't know why Maya had hung up, or why she called me in the first place.

She rolls her eyes at me. For a best friend she wasn't in a good mood today. I don't know why but she was. She was happy when we went to class together but know she's all grumpy.

Girls.

"I bet 10 dollars she doesn't like you anymore."

My heart broke hearing that sentence. "No. That's not true. Sh-she does." I said, not control the small voice crack.

Did Maya not like me anymore?

"We are just living out lives." I paused. "We agreed on living our lives."

"Well, Josh you never know. Remember? You are the one who didn't call."

It felt like someone smacked my face and put me in my place.

"But she didn't call either." I try to make myself feel a little bit better about what I did.

She didn't call. Not once.

"Girls always want the boys to call! You idiot." She has rubbing her head, clearly annoyed with me. "When girls call someone that they like they feel that they are bugging you, and that you don't like them if they become too clingy, calling, and texting. And some girls don't give a damn."

Crap.

"I swear. You are a dumbass."

"So what do I do? Call back?" I ask frantic to get an answer, or anything that would help.

"No it's too late. You have been whining for hours. It's late. Almost ten. A college student that want to pass their classes, would be going to sleep by now."

"What if it was the wrong number? It could've been that?" I ask my voice got a little higher and the end. "Kayla. Help. Me. Please."

"Okay fine. Tomorrow go to Riley's ask her for advise and see if you can find a time where she is free so you can 'accidentally run into her' " Kayla says.

Realizing that was a way better idea then just calling her again, and making a fool out of myself. It wouldn't be the free, but I don't want to do it in front of Maya.

"You are such a freakin retard" she chuckles, shaking her head.

"Thank you." I said rushing out of her dorm and going to mine.

Running through the empty halls, down the stairs, only few students were walking. Running through the door and the end of the dorms that belonged to the young women.

Holding on tighter to my thin jacket that was already zipped up, because of the cold air. Walking on the side walk, I kind of enjoyed the walk alone. I could hear the city that never sleeps, and cars beeping.

Walking for a good five minutes I reach the dorm. Taking the stairs, and then opening the door and I thanked God I didn't have to share my dorm with anyone. Putting my phone on my desk and taking off my jacket.

Getting ready to go to sleep, and I then had trouble trying to get Maya off my mind. Closing my eyes and my dreams are filled with her smile.
