That voice wasn’t familiar. It was a deep man’s voice. So we have another one of those adventures. I still hope we could get out in time for summer.
“Umm, excuse me Sir, with all my respect but we don’t know you. Who are you?” Trudy asked trying to be polite.
“I am Anubis. God of Funerals and the dead.” The voice, which is Anubis, said.
“Squeee! There’s a God talking to us!” Willow said innocently.
“God Anubis Almighty, I know you don’t want us to go but we need to go. My parents might kill me.” Alfie exclaimed. Same ‘Ol Alfie.
“And you all need to go?” Anubis asked all of us.
“Yes.” We said nervously, some of us even stuttering.
“Fine. But first, I need you to help me.” He said.
Right when he was talking, he walked from the shadowed corner of the room. I can’t believe the God of Funerals and Death is here. What’s more odd is that he looks like—
“Fabian?” KT said. Glancing at both Fabian and Anubis quickly.
Everyone was amused even me. “Wow, He looks just like Fabian.” Joy said putting the emphasis on the word ‘just’.
“I-I-I” Fabian stuttered. “I can’t believe he really looks like me.”
“Even hotter.” Joy said.
“Hey, earth to Joy? Snap out of it.” Jerome said jealously.
“Look, I heard some of you have been solving issues about Egypt and ‘the end of the world’ types of challenges four times.” Anubis said glancing at each of us.
Mara’s eyes widened. “So what challenge do you want us to do?”
“Can it be as easy as brushing toilets as a toothbrush because, well, I’ve perfected brushing toilets that it’ll take me at least two minutes to do it.” Alfie rushed.
“Wish it could be as easy but here’s the thing, Apophis will eat the sun god Ra in 7 days.”
Without any pause Jerome spoke up. “So? I don’t see anything bad about this.”
“No this is really bad you guys. If Ra was eaten alive there’d be no sun to rise and give another day. Not only are we doomed but also for those who have passed away.” Fabian said worried.
Anubis agreed with sorrow in his eyes. “That’s right. It’d also be the end of the world for those who died already and will die. Ra is also the light of the dead every night. Without him, it’d be all sorrows for the dead.”
Alfie reacted scared. “So you’re saying even if we will die it won’t be a nice phase too?”
“Indeed.” Anubis said quickly.
“Umm I’m sorry Anubis all mighty but what if we say no to the mission? I mean you could find others to do the challenge like, well, maybe... Not us?” Patricia said.
Oh no what have she gone into. I got ready to run to her just in case Anubis would turn into a jackal and devour her.
Anubis’ expression turned blank. “There would be no other people to do the mission.”
“Maybe Victor?” She pleaded. Patricia, stop! I thought.
“What meant was that we’ll take the mission!” I rushed in front of him and said joyfully.
Anubis’ expression lightened. I can tell he was about to turn into a jackal if I haven’t changed what he thought Patricia was saying. “So this is a list of what you need to find to help defeat Apophis.” Anubis said, and gave me a papyrus. I opened it and the hieroglyphics glowed as everyone gathered behind and around me to peak the list.
“Once you got them all, I’ll be back.” Said Anubis and disappeared. “Goodluck.” He said.
