Ugh, finally. That felt like the longest class period ever.
I sluggishly dropped my books from my desk into my bag, and got up to leave. Chase left in a hurry. Wonder why he's so eager to leave. Probably packing for that stupid meeting tonight.
Ever since my sister Amy died, none of us have been the same. We're distant to each other now. I'm even distant to myself. Being goth is the only way to hide what I really feel. For people and for what has been happening.
I emerge from the school entrance, and see her. Karolina. I quickly pretend to check emails on my phone, so she doesn't see me look at her when I walk by. I've never felt this way about anyone, but lately, Karolina has been there for me. Even though I pretend that I'm edgy and distant towards her, I kind of like her. I really like her. She's always so happy and... perfect. She always pleases her parents and always does the right thing. I wonder how she pulls it off.
I continue to walk past her and hop in my car. I sit for a minute and slightly look up from my phone to see Karolina walking towards me. She gets to my car and taps on the window.
"Hey Nico. Are you going to Alex's house tonight?"
"Uh, duh. This is definitely not how I want to spend my night, but I want to find out just as much as everyone else what our evil parents are up to."
"Same. Well, I'll see you there then?"
"Yeah, see you then I guess."
I rolled up the window, and my heart started beating so fast I thought it would come right out. I was suddenly excited to go tonight. At least I would get to spend the night with her.
