I briskly walked into my house, perhaps a little too briskly, because my mother asked me why I was in such a rush. It was always awkward to be around her anymore, and it was hard to hide my true feelings. After that night, I didn't think anything would be the same anymore.
"Why such a rush, Alex? You know you have all the time in the world after school to get your work done."
"Yeah mom, I know. Actually I was wondering if I could have some friends over tonight. It would be just like old times. We're trying to get back together and be a group again."
"Sure honey, I think that sounds great. It would be nice to see you kids together again."
"Thanks mom. Well I better prepare the house and clean up the game room a bit before they come. See ya later."
"Okay. Have fun sweetie."
Sweetie. How could she say that. How could she live with what she had done? I was disgusted. No matter, I had to put it all aside for the time being if I was going to actually clean up the game room for tonight. We would all be sleeping in there tonight, so I had to do a good job.
After I finished the game room, I tiredly slumped on a lazy boy. Now all I had to do was wait for 7:00 to come. Then everything would come together. Hopefully.
