For year I used music as a way to escape
The way one song could take me far far away
All types of music danced through my crappy four dollar ear buds and old IPod Shuffle
And every now and then YouTube
That is if I was lucky enough to get computer access
Country
Hip hop
Rap
Classic rock
Metal
Just a few of the genres of music I explored
All having different aspects
That drew me to them
Like a moth is drawn to the light
In some cases
I loved them for the fantasy is created
Talking about captivating love story's
It took me to a place,
Where Love was abstract, surreal, and auspicious
Not the crap that seems to be love now a days
In others
I loved them for the connections that could be made
The people who sang the song that related to my life
I wasn't alone
And that was HUGE to me
Or even the songs I loved simply for the beat
That I could so easily dance around my lonely room to
Music takes away that loneliness
And replaces it
With deep connections
Ambitions
And dreams
Something that without the help of
I would probably never see
With music
The impossible becomes possible
Pushing you beyond your own limits
I can run that mile
I can do that dive
I can keep pushing
No matter what it is
No matter the mental obstacle
Or the physical obstacle
I CAN PUSH THROUGH IT
Music taught me that
