"But dad, I don't want to start school," my daughter whines as I pack her bag.
I sigh and turn to her, my fingers wrapped around her little hands. "Des, I know you don't want to, and I know it's your first day and you're nervous. But you just turned 6, and you need a proper education."

"Why can't you just teach me?" She asks sadly, her eyes filled with tears.

I chuckle slightly. "I just told you, you need a proper education, and I can't give that to you if I'm your teacher. You're going to the best school in Canada Des, I'm paying for it. It'll be great, okay? Plus I'll always be here if you need." I smile reassuringly at her. That seemed to brighten her spirits because she nods and smiles.
"Alright," I stand up. "Off we go."

** arrived at school **

"Woah this school is cool," Destiny sighs at the huge building in front of us. I smile down at her and grab her hand in my right, her backpack in my left. "I'll drop you off at your first class."

We start making our way to Destiny's first class and I mentally chuckle thinking about what we must look like. Well, mostly me. Destiny is wearing black leggings, a white shirt, and a light denim jacket with boots, so she's normal. While I'm wearing black skinny jeans, an oversized white shirt, a black hoodie with the hood over my head and black sunglasses to hide my face. Don't want people to recognise me and make Des' first day horrible.

We arrive at her class and the second I open the door all eyes are on me. I take Destiny's hand in mine and we walk towards the teacher. "Hello," the teacher smiles. "I'm Mrs. Smiths, who is this adorable little one?"

I return her smile and introduce ourselves. "I'm Justin, we spoke on the phone. This is my daughter, Destiny, who will be enrolling here."

Before any of us can say anything, a little girl walks up to us.

"Hello," she says. "I'm Emma."
I smile at her and let go of Destiny's hand. "Hi! This is my daughter Destiny."
"Destiny, that's so pretty. It's like we are destined to be best friends," the little girl, Emma, smiles. She reaches for Des' hand and takes her to her table. I smile at them and start to walk to the door until I feel a hand pull at my hoodie. I look down to see my daughter, her eyes wide with fear.

"Dad? Will you be here when school ends?"

I squat down so I'm at her level and squeeze her hand for reassurance. "I promise, Des." I kiss the top of her head and hug her before she goes back to sit next to Emma and I exit her class.

I plop down onto my couch and release a big sigh. What to do, what to do. I look at my phone to check the time. 2:30pm. 30 more minutes until I need to pick up my daughter.

Alright, well I could either do chores around the house before Destiny is home, or I could play video games.

Without another thought, I jump up off of the couch and sprint towards the xbox and turn it on. Once it's turned on and so has the TV, I put in my favourite video game of all time. But before I get to hit the start button, my phone vibrates next to me. I sigh, but pick up. An unknown number? Hmm.

"Hello?" I say into the phone.

"H-hi J-Justin? Is t-that you?"

I freeze at the voice on the other line. No, it can't be her. My mind is playing tricks on me.

"Yes. Who is this? What do you want?" I ask, my voice firm and confident, unlike how I'm feeling right now.
