On the run

It'd been a couple hours since the Mikaelson couple had ventured out of the mansion on their own terms in attempt to get away from Kols' family.

'How far have we got?' Davina asked looking behind her as they drive as far away from New Orleans as they possibly could.

'Not far enough.' Kol looked behind him as well. 'Marcel was trailing us.'

'No that's not Marcel. Someone must have forced him to do it.' Davina didn't want to believe that he would do this to her despite how well they knew each other.

"Believe me love I was as aghast as you, this isn't Marcellus." Kol turned to his wife and gently brushed his palm against her hand in attempt to assure her, she was so cold. Kol ignored this, usually he's panic but he understood...Davina was beyond upset.

"Where are we going?" Davina asked looking at the map on the screen, they were surrounded by trees and nothing else.

"Virginia." Kol swallowed, he couldn't believe he was saying this. He couldn't believe he'd have to find refuge in the one place he hated the most: Mystic bloody Falls. "North Virginia."

Davina abruptly turned to her other half, Kol had mentioned that he once lived there and hated the place. "Mystic Falls?" She questioned, "The town Lucien made the venom?" She asked, the day Finn had died had been one of the families worst. That was when the abuse started, when Kol first hit Davina.

"Yes." There was a sour tone to his voice that Davina hadn't heard before. "Indeed." He shook his head, he was angry with himself.

"What's wrong?" Davina angled herself to face him as she saw he was upset.

"Mystic Falls was where I was killed...with the white oak." He looked out the window for a brief moment checking the wind mirror, paranoid Marcel had found them and wanting to hide his face from Davina. He was ashamed and felt like a coward.

"Kol, I understand." She too looked out her window, scared Marcel had found them again.

There was an awkward silence for a few moments as they drove down the road surrounded by woodland in the dark. The moon was full and you could easily hear the howling of the wolves, innocent teenagers would be turning for their first time tonight and it made the pair shake with guilt and fear.

"Who did it?" Davina asked.

Kol turned his face to her but being careful not to take his eyes off the road, not after what happened last time. "Elena Gilbert and her brother Jeremy." He began to relive the night. "She was Klaus' little project, Jeremy was my project." He admitted he'd done wrong to the young vampire hunter but he refused to admit he'd hurt Elena. She was as good as dead anyway. "I deserved what I got."

Davina rubbed his arm gently, she understood his pain. She too had been through the same situation with Kara. She'd deserved to be punished for hurting her, but not that badly. "Maybe you could get your sweet revenge?" She laughed a little and Kol smiled weakly at her.

Arrival time 3:45 am

"Home sweet home." Kol opened the door of the car and Davina stepped out with her almost 8 month pregnant belly. When the Mystic Fall crew found out Kol was expecting a child with his witch 19 year old wife, they'd laugh.

Davina sighed, not because she hated to be here but because she was tired. "Come on, let's go inside." Kol said and grabbed the two suitcases from the floor.

The house was nothing compared to the mansion back in New Orleans, or their previous apartment. It was more of a family home. Temporary of course.

Inside it was open planned and cliche, though Davina had expected far worse...far worse indeed. The first room you entered was the hallway, with a small stair case to the right and two connected room to the left which lead out to the kitchen and garden, which was also bigger than expected but nothing huge. At the end of the hall, next to a very small toilet, was a large grand father clock. The walls were all white accompanied by wooden floors and a red carpet. Up the stairs were several bedrooms and a spare room for luggage and general 'junk'. There was an en-suite and wardrobe.

"Kol!" Davina shouted from upstairs as she looked at family photos of Kol and his siblings. In one of the photos they were all stood on a grand staircase with Esther.

"Who did you get this house from?" She asked as she walked down the stairs and into the living area

"Who did you get this house from?" She asked as she walked down the stairs and into the living area.

Kol too was looking at photos of his family by the fire. "An old friend." He muttered as he swigged from his glass of Jack Daniels. Davina smiled at him, although he wasn't actually facing her he knew she was smiling.

She wrapped her arms around Kols shoulders and rested her chin on one, he kissed her hand and smiled weakly. "I'm sorry." He looked back to the photos.

"Kol it's fine." She assured him and spun him round so she was facing him. "I was getting sick of your family anyway." He smirked at her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"I see." He said and pulled her even closer so their lips were almost touching. They hadn't been this intimate in a long time...not after Rosanna appeared anyway. "Well maybe we can make it worth it."
