Edward POV
I checked the two of us into a hotel and we unpacked our stuff.
"One of these days we need to get our own house", Envy stated.
"Agree. Where would you wanna live?", I asked.I got no response. I looked over at him. He seemed distracted but by what I couldn't tell.
"Envy?", I said.He snapped out of it and looked at me.
"Sorry, just spacing out", he said. Something felt off. I smiled and took his hand.
"I need to get some things for dinner, wanna come with?", I asked. Envy smiled a little and nodded. With that we headed into town.
Getting a couple things from the market we paid and walked out.
A group of Central soldiers came by and saw Envy. They gave him looks of disgust.
"Careful guys, its a monster", one of them said.I glared at them hard. "Hey! He's not a monster", I snapped.
"Well he's not human is he?", another soldier asked.
"No, he's a homunculus", I stated."Monster? Homunculus? What's the difference?", he asked. I went up and punched the guy in the face.
"Bastard!! You talk that way about him again and I'll kick your ass", I yelled."Just try it shorty", the soldier mocked. Now he was dead. I was about to attack but Envy put a hand on my shoulder.
I looked at him shocked. "Envy?", I said confused.
Envy shook his head at me, then looked at the soldiers. "Leave them Ed, they aren't worth it", he said flatly.
He took my hand and we walked away. I've never seen him so calm before.
"Envy, are you okay?", I asked. For a split second I saw hurt in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced as he gave his usual smirk.
"I'm fine, a bunch of regular humans can't do anything to me", he stated. I wasn't convinced. Those comments hurt his feelings and I could tell. Knowing him though he wasn't gonna admit it.
Envy POV
I lied. Those words hurt me a little but I wasn't gonna let Ed know that. I knew I would be fine. They were merely humans. What could they know.
We finally got home and Ed went into the kitchen. "I'll start dinner. Can you wait out here?", Edward asked.
I nodded and he went to work.
" It's true..."
Hearing the voices I jumped. "Who's there?", I asked.
"It's true....Envy..."
I scowled. "What's true?! Answer me!", I yelled.
"Envy....is a monster..."
My eyes widened. I sat on the couch breathing deeply. Damn, I must be losing my mind. I tried to make myself relax.
Then I heard Ed call out for dinner. I ran there hoping food would calm me down.
