Envy POV

I woke up the next morning still feeling a bit crappy. I noticed Edward was nowhere to be seen.

I went downstairs and saw Winry, Alphonse, and that old granny at the table chatting.

"Hey, has anyone seen Ed?", I asked.
" He went into town for a bit. You might be able to catch up to him if you run", Winry replied.

I went outside and ran into town. Looking around I got a bit worried. What was he up to?
"Damn, where the hell is he?", I said to myself.

I sneezed and groaned.

" I thought I heard your voice" Standing by a nearby flower shop was Edward. I ran up and hugged him.
"You didn't tell me you were gonna be gone", I said kinda mad.

" Sorry, I was hoping to be done and back before you woke up. I just had some things to take care of", he explained. I looked at him confused.

"Alright, but what are we doing here?", I asked. Ed frowned a little.

" Just stay here a moment, I'll be back in a sec", he said. He went into the shop, leaving me all alone to wait.

Edward POV

I looked around all over. I needed those. They were her favorite. I smiled as I finally found them. Lilacs.

Mom's favorite flower.

*flashback 6 years ago*
"Hey mom let's go. I'm getting bored", I called out.

She smiled at me as she looked through some flowers.
" Just a moment sweetie", she called back.

Impatient I went to see what she was looking at. She pulled out some flowers and tied a pink string around them.

"What are those?", I asked. " Lilacs dear, they're my favorite kind of flower", she stated.
"What's the big deal about flowers anyway?", I asked.

" Well, the way I see it flowers always stay colorful and bright, even in the darkest of times", she explained.

Then she took my hand and we walked home.

*end of flashback*

I took a bunch of the lilacs and had the clerk tie them in a pink string. After I paid I left the store.

Envy POV

I sat there waiting, completely bored.

Finally he came out with flowers in his hands. "What are those for?", I asked. Ed remained silent.

His eyes were full of sadness. I grew worried.
" Ed, you okay?", I asked. He gave a small smile. "Let's go", was all he said.

He started walking ahead. I followed him. I didn't like the way he was being so quiet. It wasn't like him at all.

I don't understand it. What was wrong with my pipsqueak?
