"So, Juliet." Joey said clearing his throat as he took a seat in front of her during lunch. "The semi-formal is next week." He put his tray on the table and began eating his cheese covered French fries. Juliet nodded giving him a smile before she brought her milk carton to her lips to take a sip. "Are you planning on going?"
"Yeah." Juliet answered picking up her spork to scoop up some of the green enchiladas she had grabbed. "I've never really been to a school dance before, much less prepared one so it'll be great." Juliet added with a shiver bringing her to wrap her sweater closer to herself.
"Would you like to go with me? You know as a date?" Joey asked with a shrug.
"Sorry Joey." Juliet said with a frown. "I've already been asked, and I said yes."
"Who asked you?" Nebula asked turning her attention from Katie a fellow River Vixen to Juliet. "Why didn't you tell me this morning this is huge! Now I'm the only one who needs a date, how about you Joey?"
Joey didn't answer the girl, he looked at Juliet with a raised eyebrow waiting for her to answer the question of who had asked her. "I got asked yesterday, you don't mind if I don't say who just yet do you?" Juliet asked not wanting to say who she was going with, partly because she didn't want her friends to make a big deal about it and because she wasn't sure if FP wanted all the attention just like that. "You'll know on the day."
"Yeah." Christina said with a smile. "It's fine, it'll be a great entrance for you."
"Joey, what do you say? But just as friends because I honestly wouldn't want to go with anybody else from this school." Nebula said, Joey leaned back in his chair popping a French fry into his mouth.
"Yeah, that's cool." Joey answered his eyes still on Juliet who had gone back to eating.
"What do you girls say we go looking for dresses on Saturday?" Christina asked leaning forward her elbows rested on the table and her chin in her palms. "We get that out of the way, so we focus purely planning the semi-formal, all the River Vixens can go dress shopping together?"
Juliet and Nebula nodded their heads in agreement, they weren't sure if all the girls would want to go together but they liked the idea. When the bell rang Juliet got up with Nebula waiting for Christina to say goodbye to Gabriel who was going to a different class. The three girls then went to dump their trays and made their way out of the cafeteria. "Okay, Juliet, now that it's just us girls you can tell us." Christina began turning to look at her friend pushing her long brown hair over her shoulder. "Do you really have a date to the semi-formal or is that something you just said to Joey to get him to stop asking you out? It's cool, he does this all the time if you want him to leave you alone all you have to do is tell him that you just want to be his friend. If that doesn't work, you'll have to ignore him completely."
