After You Left

when you left

you left me broken

fragile and featherless

lying on a bed of sharp branches

wrapped in a blanket of sorrow

but slowly

one by one

each little feather grew back

and I began to grow

far more than I ever had

the once sharp branches bloomed into beautiful flowers

and my blanket of sorrow blew away in the winds of change

the rays of the sun seeped into my cracks and filled them

and one blue skied morning

I spread out my newly formed wings

and I began to fly

high above you

whole

brand new

and shining from within
