Saving You

within her eyes he saw the stars

while she merely saw dull brown

he taught her how to fly

rather than walk upon the ground

he showed he all the beauty

that lied in her marks and scars

and all the love that was hiding

in the folds and creases of her heart

he taped all her pieces back together

but the tape did not hold

for the shadows in her mind were much stronger

than she had ever told

and all he built came crashing down

crumbled on the bathroom floor

and he ran away from the ruins

of which he had tried to save before

slowly, piece by piece she fixed herself

but this time using glue

and in the end the only one

who can save yourself is you
