Quick little A/N

So for this revised version of the story, Pikachu is a bit more oblivious than he was originally. In the anime, Pikachu was never one for romance seeing as he was never shown to fall for any Pokémon in the show. When I say oblivious I mean toward his feelings rather than others' feelings. He can pick up on what others are feeling just fine, but he has a bit of trouble with his own feelings (at least for this story).

Anyways, that's all I wanted to say. Peace

I rushed inside and headed straight for Ash, hoping to see Misty and Brock, maybe clear up my head a little bit. When I got to Ash though, it was only him and Dawn. I jumped up on his shoulder and nudged his face, curious as to why they were still the only ones here. Turns out Misty got caught up by some new challengers at her gym, Brock had to fill in at his former gym for a few days, and Serena got held up at the air port. Rotten luck to say the least. As much as I'd love to tell Ash about these weird pains in my chest, having all his friends be unable to meet him here today is pretty awful. I decide that I'll wait until he's gotten the chance to spend time with everyone before I say anything. Maybe it'll have subsided by then.

I spend a little time with Ash and Dawn, listening to her contest stories to clear my head a little bit. Not longer after, I make my way back outside and toward Piplup. Piplup turns to look at me as I walk to where he's standing. "Pikachu, Buddy!" He beams, waving a flipper at me. I wave back at him. "What's up man?" Piplup asks as I arrive. "Ah, nothing. Just wanted to talk with you again." Piplup smirks, placing his flipper proudly on his chest. "My personality's addictive, I know. I just can't contain my charisma." I fail to hold back laughter and literally fall on my back laughing. Piplup's cheeks puff up, clearly frustrated. "What's so funny?! I do have an addictive personality!!" I laugh even harder, causing Piplup's face to get even redder with rage. "If you think this is so funny then why don't you battle me!" I wipe a tear from my eye, getting back on my feet. "You sure? You know you're at a disadvantage, right?" Piplup scoffs, placing a confident flipper on his chest once again. "Maybe once upon a time, but I've learned to counteract my weaknesses! So let's go mousey!" He taunts, giving me an over cocky smile. I sigh and shake my head, smiling. "If we must birdo." I tease, dashing off to the battle field. "Hey! Get back here!" Piplup squawks, flapping his flippers as he chases behind me. This'll be fun.

Piplup takes his place on the left half of the field as I take my place on the right. Piplup looks a lot more confident compared to when we used to fight. I mean he's always been cocky, that's just Piplup, but his confidence and cockiness was different this time. He looked like his confidence was well imbued in himself. He's definitely grown since the last time we faced off against each other. I ready myself, taking my battle stance. I can't let my guard down for even a second. Piplup has training in all types of counters and ways to recover well from attacks from his time in contests. If I take my eye of him for even a split second, this could all be over.

"You ready old friend?" I call out to Piplup. He waves overly confidently at me with a pompous expression on his face, signaling to me that he was ready. "O-K then. This is a one on one fight, no holds barred. First one to faint or yield loses. Good luck." Piplup nods at me. I count down from three;

Three...

Two...

One... GO!!

Wasting no time, I use agility, whipping up a cloud of dust around Piplup and increasing my speed, before returning to my side of the field. I see the blue of Piplup spinning fast inside the dust cloud. He's using drill peck to create a shield against my electric attacks with the dust. He's forcing me in close range. Clever little penguin. I use agility again, jolting around him and attempting to confuse him as to my position around him. Suddenly, I jump at him using iron tail, hitting him right on the beak. I expected to send his sprawling across the field but instead, as Piplup got hit toward the ground, he continued to use drill peck and burrowed into the ground. We've only been battling a short time and Piplup's already showing me how much stronger he's become. Ordinarily, a hit from my iron tail would cause a Pokémon to go flying and it would need a moment to recover. Piplup however, he kept strong and continued to use drill peck despite taking a direct hit to the beak. This is going to be tougher than I first anticipated.
