Happy Friday!
The alarm clock blared 6:30 in Richies bedroom as the teen shuffled out of bed, still wearing the same clothes from yesterday and a bruise now on his other cheek from his father. He peeled his clothes off and pulled on a pair of black skinny jeans and a shirt he picked off the ground, searching around he realized Eddie still had his only hoodie.
He smiled at the thought of Eddie wearing his very large hoodie again and he picked up an old flannel shirt off the ground that had a rip in the shoulder, he slid it on his shivering arms and slipped out of his room.
His father laid passed out on the couch as he tip toed to the door and carefully wrapped his fingers around the handle and swung it open, the cold air hitting him like daggers.
The teen jumped outside and carefully shut the door, then breaking into a run away from his home, the air whipping through his black licorice curls.
He finally arrived at Derry high school as the bell rang throughout the hallways, his pace of foot never quickening as students ran past him to get to class. Richie arrived at his old beaten up locker to find a familiar ginger leaning against it.
"Hey Bev," he said as he looked down sheepishly, her eyes staring at him with daring curiosity.
"What was that all about yesterday, on the phone call?" She asked as the boy with a raised eyebrow.
"What?" Richie said nonchalantly, she rolled her eyes and leaned against the lockers as Richie pulled his old beaten up backpack out of his.
"Come on," she said as she stared at Richie curiously "you got so defensive when I made fun of this Kaspbrak kid," she said and with this Richie turned his head to her at the sound of eddies name and looked her in the eyes.
"What? I was acting fine," he said cautiously as she raised her eyebrow again.
"Fine. Whatever, deny that that phone call wasn't weird. But are you going to introduce me to this kid anytime soon," she said, finally dropping the topic as Richie pushed his locker closed.
"Yeah. I'll introduce him to all of you, tomorrow at the quarry." Richie said as he told her about the plan he had come up with last night when he couldn't sleep. Beverly gave him a thumbs up and walked off to the direction of her first class as Richie walked off in the opposite direction.
Richie whistled through the empty halls as he made his way to first period, his whistles echoing off the metal lockers and ringing through his ears. As he turned the corner to meet another long hallway, his eyes shifted to the small teen running down the hall in his direction.
"Eddie!" He shouted as the running boy looked up, his eyes meeting Richies as they swirled with dark chocolate and hazelnuts. He brought his Velcro shoes to a stop, directly in front of the adhd teen and he embraced a smile that made its way across his lips.
"Hi Richie!" He said excitedly as he nervously tapped his feet against the tile.
"Hey, what'cha running off too?" The teen asked as sweat made eddies forehead slightly shiny.
"First period, of course," he said with a dumb smile as his hand gripped on tightly to his fanny pack.
Richies eyes floated from his pink lips that were held in a smile to the sweater he wore on his body, Richies mind exploded with a feeling he'd never felt as his heart fluttered. Eddie Kaspbrak was wearing his sweater again.
"I like your sweater." Richie said sheepishly as he stared as the boy who was masked by his grey hoodie.
"Oh! Erm...it was really cold this morning and...I'm so sorry...here," the boy turned a bright Crimson as he began to pull his arms out of the hoodie.
"No,no, Keep it on, it's looks better on you eds," Richie said as he put a hand on eddies arm and let the nickname roll off his tongue like it had always been there.
Eddie looked from the hand that now laid on his arm to Richie, "it's Eddie," he spoke softly as Richies heart raced, his anxiety becoming thick in his mind.
"Sorry," he said quickly as he withdrew his hand away from the boy and looked at the ground, another bell rang loudly through the school as Eddie jumped in fear.
"I gotta go rich," he said as he jumped around the teen and pushed himself back into a run down the halls, leaving Richie alone in the now empty hallway.
Richies shoulders slumped as he dragged his feet across the dirty tile, his mind racing with thoughts.
You dumbass, you fucking weirded the kid out his anxiety screamed at himself, he felt his heart sink.
Why the fuck did you call him a nickname, he's not your boyfriend dumbass he proceeded to yell at himself and call himself names in his mind as he made his way to first period.
Richies mind fell into a spreading state as he dreaded where his feet took him, boring classes filled with boring people. The teen walked into the room as the door slammed shut, no one batted an eye in his direction. The teacher continued looking at the board as he sat in the seat in the back of the class.
One time Richie showed up with five minutes left in the class, and the teacher didn't even say a word. They never cared for the trash talking teen.
Eddie Kaspbrak ran into his first period as the last bell finished ringing, sweat dotting his forehead as he threw his bookbag off his shoulder. The asmthatic teen huffed out as he unzipped his small purse on his waist and pulled out a travel size baby wipe, staring down at the desk he knew teens snored on. He wiped his clean as giggles echoed throughout the room, the teacher not looking up from his computer.
Beverly marsh sat in the back as well, as she eyed the kid who furiously wiped his desk free of germs, a smile placed on her cheeks as her sun kissed skin shivered under the air conditioning vent.
A thought passed through bevs mind but she quickly pushed it away, knowing this boy couldn't be who she was thinking about. With this thought, the teacher began taking attendance, shouting out names and hearing the response of "here"
Eddie Kaspbrak he yelled as the small germaphobe boy looked up and nervously said "here"
Eddie Kaspbrak
Beverlys mind swirled as she stared at this boy with intrigue, her thoughts already formulating plans. The girl grabbed a piece of crumbled paper from the depths of her bookbag and scribbled "hello. I'm Bev, a friend of Richie. Are you Eddie?" She smiled as she folded the paper and threw it onto the boys desk.
