❝ inside, my emotions are complicated,
to live in a life-or-death crisis.
I just pretend to be blunt about it,
it's not my first time pretending. ❞- EPILOGUE: Young Forever

When I saw the way she reacted to the joke I had tried to crack, I felt hopeless. I thought I would be stuck with this arrogant, top idol for the next two years. However, despite the impression she first gave off, she actually turned out to be a pretty decent girl. I didn't think we would spend much time in that cafe, but we did.
I didn't really remember what we talked about. I remembered that we shared many of the same interests, photography being one of the prime examples. We also talked about idol life. The standards society had set on us to be perfect human beings. How many things we were restricted from doing. How much criticism we got from the media about everything we did.
Truth to be told, I actually enjoyed eating with her, and just getting to know her in general. Despite what I had thought, conversation flowed naturally, and there wasn't one awkward silence in the whole two hours we spent there.
When we finally had to say our goodbyes and part ways, the smile that I gave her was truly genuine. We exchanged numbers, and promised to keep in touch, even though we would be seeing each other in the next week or so.
"Hey," Jungkook snapped his fingers in front of me, snapping me out of my daydream, "you didn't answer me."
"Aish, you punk. This is no way to talk to your hyung. What was your question again?"
"Old grandpas always forget what youngsters like me say immediately after they've said it." Jungkook snickered, "I asked what she was like."
Ignoring his earlier remark, I began, "Well, we didn't hit it off immediately, but when we did, it was great. She's really down-to-earth, contrary to my expectations."
"Was she even prettier in real life?"
"Wow, since when did you, the little golden maknae, become so concerned with looks? I mean... all female idols are pretty. I didn't really pay attention to her looks."
"You do remember calling her the prettiest in BLACKPINK a month ago, right? Wow, you seem to have grown up to be quite the mature man ever since talking to a female who isn't a fan or your family member... hey guys! Come over here and bring Soju with you! We need to celebrate this milestone in our 4D member Taehyung's life!" Jungkook called out sarcastically, eyes crinkling in joy as he fell back onto the bed as I started throwing light punches at him jokingly.

Over the course of the next two weeks, we had another meeting specifically on what kinds of skinship was allowed and what wasn't. Jennie and I decided to get a drink together after that meeting, even though they didn't tell us to.
"Let's play a game." I suggested as we sipped on our frothy matcha drinks.
"What kind of game?" she questioned, arching an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Let's ask each other five questions, and whoever hesitates on any of the questions gets a flick on the forehead for each question he or she hesitates on."
"Fine with me. I'm trained in this area of expertise." she says smugly, crossing her hands in front of her chest as she stared up at me. Even when we were sitting down, she was noticeably a few inches shorter than me, which I found rather adorable.
"Okay, smart-ass. You go first, then." I challenged, smirking, "What's your favourite colour?"
"Black."
"Rapping or singing?"
"Rapping. It's my position in the group, after all."
"Aegyo - yay or nay?"
"I can do aegyo, but it wouldn't be my choice."
"Describe your fashion sense with one word."
"Comfy-chic."
"That's two words, dumbass. But okay, I'll let it slide. If you could choose one member to stay in touch with for the rest of your life, who'd it be?"
"Jisoo."
"Wow. I'm impressed, Kim Jennie." I complimented, flashing one of my boxy smiles at her.
She looked down and swallowed the rest of her drink with one gulp, avoiding eye contact for some particular reason. Somehow, the atmosphere had become awkward all of a sudden.
Trying to break the uncomfortably quiet atmosphere, I said, "Well, it's my turn now. Beware, though. I'm even more skilled in the art of answering questions."
"Yeah, yeah. We all know how proficient you are in interviews, especially the ones at the AMAs." she answered, voice laced with sarcasm, "Who's the member you'd choose to remain close with for life?"
"Jimin."
"So far, so good. What's your favourite dish to eat?"
"Anything with meat."
"Who do you think is the most handsome in your group?"
"Jin, of course. Jungkook is a close second."
"If you weren't an idol, what would you be doing instead?"
"I'd probably help my parents out at the farm, or become a saxophonist."
"What's one thing that makes you happy?"
You, Kim Jennie.
However, instead of saying that aloud, I forced myself to come up with another answer, which, unfortunately, caused me to hesitate. Once three seconds had passed and an answer still hadn't come out of my mouth, Jennie laughed out loud, pointing her finger at me before calling me a loser.
"Is your life so sad that you don't have anything that makes you happy?"
No, it's just that the thing that makes me happy is you. We can't have you knowing that I'm slowly falling head over heels for you, now can we?
