I looked back at Jack just before I reached Sam and he gave me an encouraging look. I half expected him to want to come over with me but since him and Sam were friends again, it might have been too awkward. Sam stopped mid conversation when he noticed me standing there. I let out a sigh of relief as he greeted me with a warm smile rather than a glare, which I was kind of expecting. “Hey” He said grinning widely as he pulled me into a nice but slightly awkward hug.

"Hey" I said half smiling as he broke the hug. “How have you been?” He asked leaning against the locker as the person he was talking to turned around to talk to someone else. "Good good..how are you doing?" I asked but automatically regretted it because it probably sounded like I was asking about his problems. “I’m good” He replied generically, which I was kind of relieved at.

There was a short silence as I noticed Sam look over to where Jack was and then back to me."So are you two back together then now?" He said with a neutral expression which sort of worried me. "Em well it’s nothing official yet..that’s actually what I came over to talk to you about". I said unnaturally awkwardly as I ran fidgeted with my fingers. Sam chuckled to himself as he continued to lean against the locker. “Kendall don’t worry about it, you don’t need my approval. I told you this before you and Jack are meant to be together” He said smiling sweetly at me.

I smiled in response, "I thought you just said that to be nice" I said laughing nervously. “I don’t say anything I don’t mean and I meant that. You and Jack are good for each other and I’m not going to be on the one to get in the way of that” He said in a serious tone."You really think so?" I asked him. “Positive, if you and Jack don’t work out, then there’s not hope for any of us” Sam said chuckling.

I just smiled at the ground not wanting to make it obvious that I was blushing. I looked back up when I felt Sam’s hand on mine. “So are we good?” He said holding my hand loosely. I smiled as I nodded in response. “Of course we are” I said pulling into another hug which was less awkward then the first one. "You know I’m always here for you right?" I said into him as we broke the hug, wanting him to know that I still wanted to help him without making it too obvious.“Yeah I know” He said half smiling back at me.

I turned my head to the side when I felt someones hand on my back. I smiled when I saw Jack standing there beside me. He smiled back before leaning forward to hold his hand out to Sam. Sam put his hand in his giving it a firm shake. I didn’t really understand why Jack did that, maybe it was just to show that they were still on good terms or whatever. “Is that really it? A handshake?” I said attempting to lighten the mood. They both chuckled to themselves as they both leaned in for a friendly hug.

Just as they did the bell rang and they broke the hug. “Well I’ll see you guys around” Sam said shutting his locker before walking away down the hallway. "Well that was a lot easier than I thought" I said turning to Jack. "Yeah it was, but he’s been getting help lately so that could have something to do with it" Jack said shrugging casually. "That’s good.." I said not really knowing how to respond.

Jack laughed obviously picking up on my inability to make a correct response. “Come on Sparky, let’s get you to class” He said picking me up and placing me on his back, giving me a piggy back down the hallway.

I walked through the front door of my house after school, throwing my bag in the corner. “Kendall is that you?” I heard Lexi call from the kitchen. I groaned quietly to myself before walking into the kitchen. “Hi” I said with a blank expression on my face. “Hey, how was your day?” Se said smiling a fake smile at me. “Fine” I said trying to avoid starting a genuine conversation with her. She nodded to herself unsure of what to say next.

"Well this has been fun but I got to go…" I said beginning to walk away. "Kendall wait!" Lexi called after me as I walked away. I stood still for a minute, allowing myself to roll my eyes before turning around. “What?" I said making my disinterest obvious. “What happened to us?" Lexi said with a strained expression on her face. “What to you mean?" I said playing ignorant. “I mean we used to be so close, why are we not close anymore?” She said with pain in her voice.

"I think you know the answer to that already" I said emotionless. Lexi sighed loudly in response. “Look I know what I did was out of line, but that doesn’t mean you have to cut me out of your life” She told me. I sighed deeply “I’m not trying to cut you out of my life, but what you did really hurt me, I thought I could trust you” I told her. “You can trust me!” She insisted. I shook my head in response. "I don’t know if I can" I said shaking my head.

There was a wave of tension in the air as we stood in silence. “Okay, I’m not asking you to just forget everything I did, all I’m asking is that you give me a chance to make things better” She said in a manner that seemed fairly genuine. I held off from responding to give myself a minute to think. The more I thought about it the more ridiculous the whole situation seemed. She was my sister and I was treating her like a complete stranger just because she was trying to look out for me.

"So can we try and figure this out?" Lexi asked in a hopeful tone. My face curved into a smile. "Yeah okay" I said pulling her into a hug.
“I’m so sorry” Lexi said hugging me tightly. “Let’s just forget about it okay?” I suggested and she nodded in agreement before hugging me again.

As I began to walk away Lexi called me back. “Oh and next time Jack is over tell me. I think he deserves an apology too” She said smiling at me. “Okay” I said frowning slightly at her. Why had she all of a sudden just changed her opinion about everything to do with Jack and me? Well whatever the reason I wasn’t going to question a good thing. “He’ll he over later so you can tell him then” I said as I made my way up the stairs.

Later on, I lay on my bed for a while procrastinating whether or not to start my homework when my door opened. Jack stood there with a smug expression on his face. “What?” I said smirking back at him. “I just had a very interesting conversation with Lexi just there” He said jumping on the bed next to me.

"Oh yeah? What did she say?" I asked pretending I didn’t know. "It was really weird..she apologised for trying to come between us and stuff like that" He said chuckling to himself. “That is weird" I said laughing to.

"Is it bad that I’m going to miss pissing her off all the time now?" Jack said turning his head to face me with a cheeky smile on his face. “You’re so immature” I said giggling as I hit his chest playfully. He laughed too as he grabbed me by my waist pulling me on top of him. “There’s a party tomorrow night wanna go?” Jack asked me kissing me softly as he spoke. "Eh yeah sure who’s is it?" I asked curiously. "Just some guy on the football team. Are we going?" He asked again.

"Yeah sure why not" I said in an excited tone. The last time Jack and I were at a party it really didn’t end well. Hopefully this time it would be different.
