I stayed silent for the entire drive to my new school. I guess some part of my brain thought that if I kept up the silent act all the way there, my Mom would some how change her mind and let me stay. I tried to be optimistic but what was there to be optimistic about? I was driving my way into oblivion. Maybe that was a little dramatic, but that's what it felt like. I know no one and I'm miles away from anyone I do know or  like.

As we drove up the long drive into the school grounds, I began to finally accept that this was going to be my life for the next few months. The whole building was a washed grey colour and resembled a prision, which wasn't inticing to say the least. My Mom parked in one of the free spaces in the parking lot before turning to me. "Ready to do this?" She asked with a hopeful smile on her face. I sighed deeply before opening the car door. "Ready as I'll ever be" I said jumping out of the passenger seat.

I grabbed all my bags and made my way to the reception with my Mom. A blond lady with an overly enthusiastic smile was sitting behind the desk. "Hello!" She said in a chirpy tone. "Hi.." I said giving her a glare. "You must be Kendall, we have been expecting you" She said grinning widely at me. "Yeah that's me" I half mumbled to her and she began typing on her computer.

I sat down on the chair beside the desk as my Mom talked formalities with the woman. I blanked out of their conversation out of my lack of interest in the lady going on about how good the facilities were on about the schools' reputation. "Kendall honey, come here" My Mom said calling me back to the desk.

"What?" I asked, leaning on the desk. "Here's your room key and a booklet regarding your classes and other schedules" She said handing them to me. "Thanks" I mumbled taking them from her hand. "Oh and this" She said handing me an abomination on a hanger. "What is this?" I asked looking at it in disgust. "It's your uniform?" She said looking at me in confusion as to why I was confused. "You never mentioned a uniform" I said through my teeth as I turned to my Mom.

"Sorry, I completely forgot" She said, clearly lying but for the sake of avoiding an argument, I ignored it. "Your dorm number is 75" The lady said. "Do you want me to come with you to your dorm?" My Mom asked me. "No, I think I can find my way okay" I said to her. "See you in a few months" I said picking up my bags and making my way to the dorm. "Kendall wait.." My Mom said grabbing my wrist gently. "I'm sorry for this.." She said with a guilty expression. "If you were actually sorry, you wouldn't be sending me here" I told her before walking towards my dorm again.

It was around 5pm which meant my room mate should be in our room by now. I knocked on the door of dorm 75 and waited for an invitation to come in. "Come in!" I heard the voice yell and I opened the door. "Hi, you must be Kendall" A dark haired girl with a vibrant smile said to me as she stood up from her bed. "Yeah I am" I said smiling back at her. "I'm Courtney, It's nice to meet you" She said putting out her hand and I shook it.

"So this is our room?" I askec looking around the cramped space. "Yeah, it's not much but it's home I guess" She said which made my stomach drop when I realised this was my home now. I made small talk with Courtney as I hung up my clothes and unpack all my things. The last thing I unpacked was the picture of Jack and I that I had taken with me. I held it in my hands for a moment just, taking it in before walking over to the wall and hanging it there. "Is that your boyfriend?" Courtney asked, observing the picture. "Yeah, his names Jack" I said smiling at her. "Aw you guys are really cute" She said giving me a sweet smile. "Thanks, do you have a boyfriend?" I asked her as I sat down on the bed. "No it's too hard being in boarding school" She said and I nodded. "No I didn't mean it like that, I'm sure you and your boyfriend will be fine.." She began but got lost for words.

"It's fine, I know what you mean" I said laughing it off. "This place isn't as bad as it seems, the girls are all really nice and we have some fun times" she told me. But the fact that she felt she needed to say that, meant that this wasn't going to be much fun.

Courtney invited me to some study group or something in another dorm, but I was so mentally drained from all the goodbyes today that all I wanted to do was sleep. I decided to call Jack before I went to bed, just to comfort me slightly. "Hello" The voice said. "Hey Jac-" I began but was interrupted by his voicemail. "This is Jack, I can't come to the phone right now, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can" It said. I sighed deeply before hanging up. I could feel the salty tears begin to stream down my face as I placed my phone down and laid down on my pillow, just wanting this day to be over.
