Elijah sighed deeply as he placed his keys in the lock of the apartment he owned, he liked it here, it was a Mikaelson free zone, no family or anything when he was here, he would only ever answer to an emergency. This was Elijah’s special home, his calm from all the aggravation and fighting in the Quarter.
Gravier Place was beautiful, so many amenities and just far enough away for no one to know exactly who or what he was or even care. He was simply Mr Mikaelson just another businessman who happened to own the best apartment the building held. Well he had to ensure his comforts and things he had grown accustomed to.
Once the door was open he stepped inside and closed and locked the door behind him, laying his keys in the bowl close to the door, it was getting a bit dark now so Elijah flicked the lights on. He smiled as he looked over his apartment, he loved it so much, and as always he sat down and took his shoes and socks off so he could feel the deep pile carpet on his feet and in between his toes. Simple things like this made him feel so lucky but also so human, he wished so many times he had retained more of his humanity than he had.
He heard a noise coming from the bedroom. The closet if he wasn’t mistaken, he moved quickly and silently and stopped behind a woman throwing shoes all over the floor.
“Bloody hell, I’ve not got any shoes.”
As she said her last words she threw the shoe in her hands at the wall in front of her and it hit with a hell of a thud and it even left a small mark where the heel of the shoe had hit the wall.
“What did that wall ever do to you?”
Scarlet’s eyes widened and she was half scared to turn around in case her ears had deceived her. With a little smirk on her face she kept facing the closet.
“Well I don’t have any shoes to match my dress.”
“You have hundreds of pairs of shoes.”
“I see, going somewhere?”
The sexy male voice sounded out around the room. Now Scarlet laughed and started to turn her head to look at him.
“I am going out with the guys from work.”
As she looked at him now, she looked like a naughty little child how she looked at him. Elijah crossed his arms over his chest.
“Is that so? Oh well I might as well go.”
Scarlet jumped up.
“Don’t you bloody dare!”
Scarlet jumped to her feet and closed the short distance between them, she wrapped her arms around Elijah’s neck so quickly Elijah was temporarily taken aback. He wrapped his warm strong arms around her back as he held her warm body against his chest.
Scarlet pulled herself back to look into his dark brown eyes; she could drown in them every time she looked at him. To her he was sexiness in a suit, just a real shame she had to share him.
“If the wife has let you out then I am not going anywhere, I didn’t expect to see you so soon.”
Elijah smirked as he kissed her forehead.
“Oh is it too soon?”
Scarlet slapped his arm as she laughed and answered his question.
“If I saw you every day it still wouldn’t be enough.”
Elijah sat down on the bed holding onto her hips, Scarlet couldn’t even explain how much she loved this man it was just a shame he was married, she was never the kind of girl to cheat or to be someone’s’ mistress but there was something so special about Elijah. He had helped her through her darkest days after his brother had died.
Scarlet had met Kol during his brief time at college in Denver; where they soon became friends and a short time later a couple. Kol and Jeremy had both left Denver very suddenly at the same time but without a word to anyone. Kol got back in touch with her and said he had to return to his family, but then he stopped emailing and phoning, she heard nothing for a long while and she was angry. During one late night rant she was leaving on his answer phone Elijah answered and had to break the news to her that his brother had died in a fire at a Jeremy’s house.
Scarlet was shocked and upset, being Kols’ only sibling Elijah felt it was his duty to visit her. That is when it all changed, Elijah soon fell in love with her and when he moved to New Orleans he persuaded her to go with him, he managed to secure her a job in a very prestigious tailors, Scarlet was quite the consummate couturier, so it wasn’t difficult to do, maybe a little compulsion was used to make them give her a chance but the rest was all Scarlet
When he bought the apartment he broke the news to Scarlet that he was married, she had the choice to continue their relationship but if she didn’t want to he would not push her, and vowed he would leave her alone and give the apartment to her.
Scarlet had no choice but to share him, she had fallen hook, line and sinker. She knew he lived and worked in the French Quarter but she was far enough away to not have any need to go there, which was of course exactly how Elijah wanted it. She was pure, 100% human, she knew nothing of werewolves and vampires let alone the fact he was an Original; he had vowed to never compel her to do anything. Her love for him was genuine, nothing was ever forced, and he loved her, she made him feel human and he enjoyed it. The last thing he needed was for his family to be involved, hence the lie that he was married and Kol was his only brother. That was the only lie he had told but it was technically true, he was married to his family, sometimes too much so.
Scarlet moved her hands slowly over Elijah’s’ manly shoulders as she made her way to remove his burgundy tie, once she had achieved this she started work on his jacket. Elijah took hold of her right hand in his and kissed the back of her hand.
“Always the gentleman Elijah, aren’t you, how long can you stay?”
Elijah pulled her closer and rested his head against her chest, he hated this bit, it made everything seem that little bit sordid, and he sighed.
“Well I am here all night and I can take the morning off work, so I can make you breakfast in bed and we can have lunch at that restaurant you like.”
Scarlet knew that sigh very well, he had to divide his time between her and his wife, and she placed her hand on top of his head as she stroked his hair. Elijah loved that so much, she made him feel loved and safe from all ‘issues’ within the Quarter. Leaning down she kissed the top of his head as she moved out of his arms.
“I’ll run you a nice hot bath and get you a glass of wine, what do you say to that?”
Elijah smiled at her.
“Best you cancel your evening out too.”
Elijah stood up and took hold of his jacket to go hang it up when he stopped and turned around he had a cheeky glint in his eyes.
“Have you missed me Scarlet?”
She frowned at him what a stupid question. Elijah held his arms out.
“I don’t believe I have had a kiss since I arrived?”
Smiling she walked over to him, as their lips met her body felt as though it was on fire, and as the kiss continued the more passionate it became. Before long Elijah had Scarlet pushed against the wall and the passion between the two was threatening to set the whole room on fire. Reluctantly Scarlet pushed Elijah back a little, she spoke in between pants as she tried to gather herself to form coherent words.
“I’ll… just… phone… the… girls… and…”
Elijah felt almost bereft of her lips and once more held her in a passionate embrace as his lips crashed down on hers.
Scarlet surrendered to him totally, unable to deny him anything.
