Scarlet went back to the apartment; she didn’t really understand much of what had happened today, it was all so very strange. But if this Klaus person was indeed the man Elijah spoke of then he did look every inch of a brat as Elijah had suggested. Well one way or the other everything would be sorted out tonight for good or bad she would know exactly where her life was going and if it was with Elijah or not.
Elijah kept a bit of distance between himself and Klaus for the rest of the afternoon, he was so mad at him for the trouble he could cause just because ‘he could’. Later in the afternoon Elijah called the florist and ordered 101 roses, to include one white, one yellow, one pink, one orange, one lilac and the remainder to be red. The florist he normally used was perfectly used to Elijah’s unusual and very old fashioned requests, they did at times wonder if he knew everything about flowers. He advised he had a letter to be attached to the bouquet before they were delivered and that he would send someone with a letter to be attached to the flowers prior to delivery.
Elijah wrote on cream coloured, heavyweight, exquisite letter writing paper. He of course used a fountain pen, he felt it always looked correct and sent the correct impression and meaning of the letter. Once folded inside a matching envelope he sealed it and stamped it with a red wax seal of the Mikaelson M. Holding the envelope up he smiled at it, he enjoyed being able to do things like this. Of course he was saddened by the demise of his brother Kol but his death had brought an angel into his own life. Elijah was relatively convinced that if Kol had lived then he would have only broken her heart and walked away, sadly Scarlet was a wonderful ruse for his time at Denver keeping an eye on Jeremy Gilbert. She did have a sharp tongue on her and he knew Kol liked a woman who would stand up to him, that was his idea of fun. Kol had compelled her that was obvious she ‘remembered’ they had gotten together almost immediately when they arrived at college. Elijah ensured a vampire he could compel would be the best delivery boy for the letter.
Scarlet spent the rest of the afternoon looking at her fabrics she had scattered across the dining table while scribbling happily on one of her many notepads. She was lost in thought when the doorbell rang. Scarlet’s heart jumped up into her mouth and she could feel butterflies in her stomach. How did this man still make her feel like when they first met, all the excitement and longing? She placed her book and pencil on the coffee table and walked to the door, she couldn’t resist looking in the mirror by the door to make sure she looked okay. She whispered to herself.
She tousled her hair so it hung over her shoulders and straightened her shirt.
“Right, hair? Check! Shirt? Well it’s okay.”
Quickly Scarlet unfastened one of her buttons but when she looked at it she changed her mind, what was the point of trying to make him think she was something she wasn’t. He knew her inside out, she smiled at the thought, and then remembered Elijah had his key so it wouldn’t be him. This had better not be some lame ass excuse of why he couldn’t come over tonight.
Upon opening the door Scarlet was faced with a massive display of roses, shocked she put her hand over her mouth as she took in a deep breath of air. She was mesmerised by the beauty of them, she didn’t even want to guess how many there were.
“Miss Evans?”
Scarlet came back to the here and now as she heard a man say her name and hand her an envelope, before she even looked at it she knew it was from Elijah, she recognised the feel of the paper anywhere. Elijah would only ever use and have the best of everything; Scarlet just hoped this was not going to be some sad letter saying he couldn’t see her anymore.
“Thank you.”
Scarlet murmured as she took the very heavy bouquet from the man’s arms, she walked in and pushed the door closed with her back as she wondered where on earth she was going to put this fantastic display, it was massive. If they went on the coffee table you couldn’t put anything else on there. Scarlet looked around the room thinking where to sit them the best as she looked around with her eyebrows furrowed she knew the best place was the dining table. The fabrics had to be moved, so she popped the flowers on the coffee table whilst she gathered the fabric up and transferred it to her working desk.
She looked at the envelope with Elijah’s beautiful handwriting and ran her fingers across the words feeling the indents where his pen had touched the paper. Sighing she opened it slowly and unfolded the letter to read it.
‘My Dearest Scarlet,
Please accept this small token of my deep love and devotion to you..’
Scarlet looked up at the roses, and shook her head.
“Small token? Yep that’s you Elijah!”
‘I have so much to explain to you and I hope when I see you tonight you will grant me the opportunity to explain everything to you and to beg for your forgiveness.’
Scarlet rolled her eyes.
‘The roses contain my truest feelings for you within their meanings.
The red rose symbolises my love, bold, dramatic, passionate and true.
White for your humility, purity and innocence, and shows my loyalty.
The yellow rose for the joy you bring to my life,
Pink is for your gentility, femininity, elegance and grace.
The warm, vibrant tones of orange roses symbolize my desire, my passion, and the attraction I feel to you.
Finally the lilac, it is thought to be almost mystical in nature, with symbolism tied to enchantment. and beauty
101 roses, denotes that you are my only love.
These words are all true of how you make me feel, I am intoxicated by every single part of you.
You are and will always be my one and only love.
Elijah.
X
Scarlet felt elated, of course this was Elijah’s grovelling apology but it made no difference it rarely did with this man. All the same Scarlet had a lot of questions to which she wanted proper answers to. She pulled out her phone and sent a text.
‘Thank you for the roses, they are beautiful and I adore their meanings, we still have much to talk about tonight but rest assured you have my heart and you always will. Xxxx’
Elijah was standing talking to Klaus when the text came in he looked at it straight away and he smiled happily at it, but quickly put his phone back in his pocket and composed himself to resume his conversation with his brother.
Klaus’s devilish mind was picking up on every single thing that Elijah did, in saying nothing Elijah was telling everything.
“Was that for a fitting from your adorable little seamstress?”
Elijah sighed.
“That is exactly what it is brother, how clever you are.”
“Well I still say you fancy her but that is your choice.”
Elijah stepped forwards towards his brother so they were almost toe to toe.
“Yes it is my choice and no I do not as you very eloquently say ‘fancy’ her. I will be out this evening; I have some business to attend to.”
Elijah waited for Klaus to challenge him but to his surprise Klaus did not, so Elijah walked from the room.
“As you wish brother, as you wish.”
Klaus made a couple of quick calls to people to follow Elijah, to be very discreet but he wanted to know exactly where he was going and who he was seeing. He did however remind them that if any of them were caught by Elijah they wouldn’t live long so to all be very careful and either be single or in a couple away from each other.
“Let the games begin.”
