Scarlet had a disturbed sleep, so many images running around her mind, all of them ending the same with Elijah dead just like Kol and she was all alone.
Elijah was well aware of her dreams, he had lay all night with her held tightly to his chest, trying to soothe her nightmares away by caressing her skin but he knew it was futile. He couldn’t help thinking that things were getting tricky between them now and he began to regret bringing her to New Orleans. Now what was the next move? Could he leave Klaus and Rebekah and move far away with Scarlet and be happy together or did he need to stay with his brother and sister? He was torn between what he wanted and what was needed. He knew now he had to do a lot of soul searching because leaving Klaus in charge of New Orleans on his own could be the kiss of death to the city. Whatever the answer was there was only one definite and that was going to be get Scarlet the hell out of New Orleans. Where to was a big question, was there actually anywhere safe? He knew Mystic Falls could either be the answer to his prayers with Jeremy there as a friend, or it could be the worst thing ever and she could find everything out. Let’s face it Damon Salvatore was less than tactful, he would end up telling Scarlet all about everyone and then she would hate him. No, okay, that isn’t the answer.
Elijah took Scarlet to work as she was getting out of the car he stopped her by gently holding her arm. Scarlet looked down at his hand and then up into his beautiful brown eyes, she was rewarded with his sweet, loving smile.
“How would you like us to take a little holiday just to get away from all of this and have quality time just the two of us?”
Scarlet raised her hand to and stroked his stubble on his chin. She knew he was trying to make her happy.
“Baby could you seriously go away and leave everything? Could you leave Rebekah on her own? Not only that if you get a phone call you couldn’t get back as quick and I would end up on my own somewhere I didn’t know. How about I take a few days off work and you come home for a few days, then if you had to get back it wouldn’t be as far.”
Elijah tipped his head to the side and rested his cheek in the palm of her hand.
“I don’t deserve you, you always put others first.”
Scarlet leant forwards and kissed his gently on his lips as she moved away she whispered to him.
“And so do you, your family is the most important thing in your life.”
Taking a deep breath Scarlet got out of the car and closed the door. She kept saying over and over in her head, ‘No tears don’t cry… no tears, be brave.' She didn’t turn to wave just got inside the shop as quickly as she could. Marcus looked up from the suits he was putting on hangers as she walked in.
“Oh sweetheart…”
Scarlet held her left hand up as she walked past and he knew not to go see her and let her just deal with this herself. He would always be there for her and to keep an eye on her.

Elijah arrived back to a very quiet house; this was rarely a good sign for anyone.
“REBEKAH… NIKLAUS?”
Rebekah appeared on the balcony.
“Elijah, he’s gone out to the bayou.”
Elijah turned around and strolled back to the car.”
“Where the hell are you going?”
Elijah stopped, put his hands in his pockets and turned around on his heels and gave Rebekah a very sarcastic smile.
“Where else but out to the bayou of course, someone has to deal with our brother and it seems to be my job, maybe we need to keep him on a leash.”
With that he got in his car and left.

Klaus was sitting in his car opposite the shop watching inside to see what was going on inside. It wasn’t long before his phone rang and he smiled as the person gave him the news he had been waiting for. Elijah had gone on a wild goose chase out to the bayou so he would be out of the way for a long time. Smiling Klaus got out of the car and strolled across to the shop and opened the door. He had hardly stepped one foot over the threshold when two men rushed up to him. Marcus made it first; he rather liked the look of Klaus, just his type a real bad boy look.
“Can I help you sir?”
Klaus stifled a laugh knowing exactly what Marcus thought of him, he coughed.
“Yes you can, may I see Miss Evans please?”
Marcus was very unsure about this; he hadn’t seen Scarlet since she came in to gauge her mood. He nodded at Klaus and headed out towards the back to see Scarlet. She looked up when he came through and she wiped her eyes trying to look half presentable.
“Scarlet, there is a gentleman to see you…”
He popped his head around the corner and looked at Klaus.
“Mr?”
Just as Klaus was about to speak Scarlet appeared.
“Niklaus?”
He stepped forward the tears showing in her eyes no matter how she was trying to keep them in. He held his hand out to her and she shook it.
“Please call me Klaus.”
Scarlet kicked straight into work mode.
“What can I do for you Klaus? Please don’t tell me it is something to do with Elijah.”
Klaus kept hold of her hand placing his other hand on top.
“Oh love, do you want to talk about it?”
Scarlet gave him a weak smile as she pulled her hand away. Klaus put on a worried face to her.
“Well I had to come over so I thought I would see about a suit while I am here.”
Scarlet screwed her eyes up at his words and shook her head.
“Fine so it’s Elijah what has happened?”
Klaus was impressed with her reaction; she would make this very easy to get information from her.
“Why don’t we go for a coffee or something and we can talk.”
“I knew it; I knew this was about Elijah.”
“Shush now sweetheart, its fine I am here and I will look after you. Let’s go to that little coffee house and get you a nice hot coffee.”
Scarlet thought she was going to cry, Elijah had only just left, he must have got back and told Klaus to come straight round with another story.
“Thanks but I can’t I’m working.”
Scarlet pointed to the manager and Klaus walked over towards him and stared into his eyes.
“You are going to let Miss Evans come with me and you will tell her to take the rest of the day off because she is very emotional and she needs a rest.”
The manager looked at Scarlet and said…
“Yes Scarlet, you should go with this gentleman and take a break for the rest of the day, you’ve had a hard few days.”
Scarlet had her mouth open, smiling Klaus put his finger under her jaw and closed her mouth for her.
“Not the most attractive look to go for, now let’s get out of here… Coffee?”
Still dumbstruck she watched as Marcus collected her handbag and gave it to her, he was pretty shocked too, as the manager was normally such an arse. Scarlet placed her bag over her shoulder and walked towards Klaus who now had the door open for her.
“I… I… Erm… I need vodka… Alcohol… Anything.”
Klaus placed his arm around her shoulders, poor little thing was in a state of shock and he actually could fancy her himself.
“Good idea, we can find a nice bar and crawl into a bottle and chat, how about that?”
Scarlet just nodded and let him guide her to the car.
