Alice's POV
I wonder where Luca is, I thought as I walked to my 2nd period, Language Arts with Mrs. May. I walked through the crowd and tried to walk past a few people, but they wouldn't let me, so in the end, I managed to get to 2nd period within 3 minutes. I sighed and walked to my seat, putting my things on the desk. Hmm.. I wonder if Luca would hate this class. I knew that Luca would not like any class at all, except for Art and P.E, but the rest of the classes that we need to take, Luca would probably dislike, because, a.) they were boring. b.) he probably thought that the teacher hates him or something. c.) he isn't with me in that class. I smiled at that thought. That is really like Luca, I thought, smiling.
"What are you smiling about, Ali?" asked a voice, teasingly. "Thinking about your boyfriend..." The same voice said. I blushed and I was completely sure that I was red as a tomato. "W-wh-what do you mean?! I don't have a boy-boy-boyfriend!" I replied, flustered. The voice now identified as my best friend, Mavis Demetri.
Mavis was a light brown-haired girl with big, cute chestnut colored eyes and had small, pink lips and long, luxurious, wavy hair. Everyday, she wore a bow in her ponytail and a shirt and shorts with her tennis shoes. If it was cold, she wore a long sleeved shirt with jeans and boots. Mavis was probably seen as one of the girls that are your best friend/matchmaker.
Mavis smiled at me and I smiled back. She leaned towards my right ear and said, "It's Luca Vega, isn't it?" I blushed. She stood up and smiled. "I take that as a yes, then." Mavis said, still smiling and walked away to her seat, since it was almost time for class.
I sighed. Did I really, really like, like Luca that way? I don't know, anymore. Maybe, I'll ask Mavis, since she seems to know about these kind of things.
The bell rang just as I finished my thought. Throughout Mrs. May's class, I was zoning out and not paying attention that much as I used to(LA was my favorite and easiest class to me.) and had to be reminded by the person to my right, Cecil Reeds, that Mrs. May was calling me to read a paragraph of the article, "Monkey Business", and it was totally humiliating to be seen like that. I even blushed! Man... I'm sure Mrs. May is probably angry at me.
"Ring! Ri-ing!" The bell rang. "Ok, class, I'll see you tomorrow." Mrs. May dismissed us and walked to her desk, her shoes clicking as they touched the floor with each step she took. I watched her movements as she checked over essay papers that we did last week ago about disabilities. I looked at her necklace that had a heart. That necklace is beautiful, I wonder if that was her engagement present. (In Gerdia, it was customary for the future groom to give the future bride a present as a sign of their engagement. The future married couple would then on buy rings together as a sign of their marriage. Usually the gifts were things that the couple had a good memory of. For example, a vase, if the first time they met was in an antique shop or was in a shop with a lot of vases in it.)
I observes her brown ears that seem to twitch whenever something loud is near her. (Mrs. May is of Catailia kind, like me. And Mavis is of Gayle kind, she has 2 tails and tells me that the superstition that Gayles have lot of tails and have a lot of power is just a myth, or so she thinks. I've seen her tails, one grayish white and one brown and white.)
"Hello!" I heard Mavis say as she waved her hand in front of my face. "Huh?" I said as I snapped out of my daydreaming phase. "Are you thinking of your BF?" Mavis said, teasingly. My eyes opened wide and my face turned red. "No! I'm not!!" I said as I began gathering my things. "I know you are." Mavis said, her tone changing to a more serious one that the one she had before. "Just be careful, Ali. I don't want you to get hurt, if you fall in too deeply." Mavis warned me, her voice with more seriousness and solemnity than I think that I have ever heard before and she walked away, leaving me there to figure out what she was trying to say.
I looked at my watch, 9:36. Oh shoot! Time to go to 3rd period, Mr. Matthews. I half ran half walked to my 3rd period, having to wasted about 3 minutes of my passing time to get my stuff. Good thing that I keep all of my morning stuff in one binder and all of my afternoon classes in another. Hopefully, Mr. Matthews wouldn't have to reprimand me once I go to his class which is now about a minute away. I speed-walked and made it in time for the bell to ring once I unpacked the things that I needed and sat down in my seat.
Mr. Matthews was a 6ft tall Finn man with orangish-brownish eyes and light brown hair. He looked to be about 25-30 years old, but I think that he was older than he looked. About 35-40, I think. I probably think that because of all of the experience that he has, teaching Science.
I wonder what Luca is and what he is thinking about. I wonder if he is thinking of me. I smiled. I would probably like that if he did. And I thought of Luca throughout Science, too. Maybe, I have an obsession about him or something. I hope that I am not crazy. I hope, not.
