I'm sorry if there are any mistakes, I kinda suck at writing and I'm too lazy to fully go through and edit. This is my first story, so please, if it sucks, let me down easy. (✖﹏✖) Still, I hope you enjoy!
Kuroo Tetsuro lived in a world where soulmates existed, it was an extremely romanticized concept for every human being from the moment they were old enough to grasp the concept. You would be able to hear story after story, people meeting their soulmate in the most romantic ways. Some getting pretty melodramatic and over the top.
You were able to get this tugging sensation from whichever direction your soulmate was in, it was random, but it wasn't a bother in anyone's daily life, or at least that's what Kuuro learned growing up. It wasn't until the beginning of his 3rd year of high school that he learned that not every encounter was so maudlin and romantic right off the bat.
It was slow at first, and it wasn't all that harsh the first month or so, but occasionally during Kuroo's volleyball practice, he'd feel a pull a little stronger than the usual ones. He just thought that maybe his soulmate was having a hard time dealing with the pressure and stress of everyday life. It was moderately distracting however, and he'd occasionally mess up and get yelled at by his teammates. After 2 months of the unceasing distractions, eventually becoming more frequent, Kuuro's closest teammate and friend, Kenma, decided he'd address his concerns.
"I don't know, man... They only do this after school, usually during our practices. They're happening more often but they're not getting any worse, so I shouldn't be too concerned... right?" Kuroo asked the smaller male. There was a hint of uneasiness and qualm in his tone, which Kenma easily picked up on.
Kenma didn't know how to handle such a situation, it made him nervous for his friend, so he tried his best to calm him down. "If they get any stronger, you should do something." Kenma said shortly, in a soft tone. He didn't want to mention that he's never heard of the weird tugging anomaly acting up over such inconsequential stress, if it was the case, he felt bad for his own soulmate. Eventually making his way home, Kuroo plopped down on his bed only to stare up at the ceiling while he lost himself in his thoughts. "I hope everything is okay."
The next morning came, and he thanked the Gods that it was finally Friday. He went through his normal routine, classes, lunch, more classes, with the random small pull every now and then, the ones that made him happy, being a simple reminder of his soulmate. Once school ended and it was time for practice, that's when Kuuro started to get nervous. He waited for those mildly intense tugs to start distracting him, but yet the only thing that was keeping him from focusing was his own apprehensions. Eventually he had to tell himself everything was fine, that his soulmate was fine and he worked himself up for nothing. He smiled to himself, "Everything is fine, love." He felt a small pull and his heart fluttered, just as he received a ball right to the face.
"You're an idiot." Kenma scolded as he handed his friend a refilled bag of ice for the second time after practice.
"Im sorry, Kenma, I can't help it," Kuuro smiled, trying not to make his face hurt more than it already did, failing miserably as his dork of a smile took up his whole face. "I think I'm gonna do it."
Kenma looked up at him, raising an eyebrow as he picked up his gaming system. "Do what?"
"I'm gonna go look for my soulmate! What else is there to do?" Kuuro beamed triumphantly.
